2001 Ford Taurus / Transmission Problems

I financed my 2001 Ford Taurus in January 2005. Since I have had this car I have had nothing but problems. 1st it started leaking oil and I had to have an oil pump replaced, then about a month later, the car stopped and fluid ran all over the road. I needed to have the upper hose replaced (antifreeze problem), next a Torque and seals needed to be replaced in the transmissions.

I have had a rental for about 1 month and have already spent over $800.00 on that, I have paid over$2,500 getting the car fixed for various problem, and since it's financed I still have to pay the payments. If you are going to buy, finance or lease a car, leave Ford alone, because I guess it's true what people say Ford stands for (F-Found, O-On, R-Road, D-Dead) I would not recommend anyone buy this type of car.

my 2001 Taurus has 140,000 on it and the engine still purrs like a brand new kitchen. My transmission is now having problems though. I have had many Taurus's and the cost of these cars is very reasonable and the engine is extremely durable.

I have a 2002 Taurus with 180,000 miles on it and finally I've had to put some money into it. I guess after 180,000 miles I expected something to happen. Well, I'll just replace that starter and go another 100,000 and see what happens.

Calm down. My Taurus is freaking great, and it's been that way for 9 years. Cars break. That's what they do. It's not specific to the Ford brand. ALL cars have problems at some point or another, so chill.
