DATA LOSS by the Dell Technical Support DATA LOSS by the Dell Technical Support
I purchased Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop Computer Pentium 4 (with 2 year warranty) from a computer dealer and registered with Dell on 02/25/2005 and Dell gave me unlimited warranty on technical support.
On 05/03/2005 I was unable to log on to my PC and sought the Dell technical support. But the instruction that was given by a technician resulted in "LOSING over 200 FILES that I had saved for years in the C: drive - all were valuable, priceless, non-recreatable! Yes, the folders were there but they contained NO FILES!! ALL THE FILES inside EVERY FOLDER were VANISHED as a result of what the Dell Technician instructed me to do!!!
After the incident, I learned that the Microsoft had posted online that the operation the Dell technician instructed me perform posed a RISK of DATA LOSS!! Microsoft's warning contains Symptons, Cause and Resolution. It tells me that THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED!!!
How could the Dell technician not know this? Upon finding the loss, the technician and I tried everything to recover the lost files for several hours in vain! After the incident, the technician instructed me to back up the files - but at this point it was TOO LATE!!!
Having been upset with the Incompetent Dell Technician, I sought a help from two other Dell technicians (one was a technical manager) but no single file was recovered. LOST WERE PRICELESS PERSONAL PROPERTIES!!!
I wrote a letter to the Dell President and demanded a compensation but he is trying to get away with it!!! Does anyone have an advice for me?
