I am a holder of ICICI Mastercard Gold Card and have experienced callous customer service from the bank. When ICICI Bank approached me to take up their Gold Card I was promised a credit limit of more than the amount which is given by Standard Chartered Bank Visa Gold Card. Unfortunately, the credit limit given was not even the half of what is being offered by Standard Chartered. Repeated mails to their head of Credit Card division went unanswered. On another occassion even after I had made a payment by cheque and the payment alreadydebited from my account I was told that my cheque has bounced. I also tried to tell them that a cheque cannot bounce once it is debited from my account. The bank staff do not seem to understand this basic concept of banking and only when I refused to make any further payments they agreed that it was their mistake.
If issuing a cheque that bounces is a criminal offence, the gross negligence showed by the staff by falsely accusing someone of issuing bounced cheque should also be punishable. Needless to say, I never got any response from my various mails to ICICI Bank Customer Service and Senior people.
