My account with Providian has been closed for 3 years with a balance and I have always paid on time and paid more than the minimum. In January my closed account was switched from a fixed rate to variable rate which was enormous. I was told when I closed the account that closed accounts stay at the fixed rate they were at when closed.

However , that has not been the case. I even received a letter from M. PRITCHETT-SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, that my APR had become eligible for an APR reduction only that did not occur. My APR actually increased. I was told that my account was treated as a regular open account and was switched to a variable APR.

Then they said the letter was a mistake because that reduction was only for open accounts. So to raise my APR they treated my account like an open account and to re-nig on the APR reduction they treated the account like a closed account. They are liars and thieves. Thank you.
