NEVER EVER BUY A MAYTAG WASHER
I have used many different types of washers through the years and have always been happy with Maytag. So, when it came time to buy a new washer there was no question what to buy. We purchased an Atlantis Washer in May 2004, but, for the past 10 months, we have had nothing but problems.
Our clothes are covered with lint and little balls of lint. Plus after every wash there is a film of lint on the inside of the wash tub. We tried everything that was recommend in the, not so informative, manual that came with the washer. We even went onto Maytag's website to find solutions. After 7 months of trying to resolve our problem ourselves, we contacted Maytag by phone. The technicians were not very helpful and or courteous. Everything that they told us to do came directly from that "not so informative" manual, which we read.
They told us that the lint is supposed to "wash away". The Technicians even questioned us about how we sorted our clothes, the type of water we have & the type of soap we use. They even said that the "little lint" will come off in the dryer. Well I do not have a dryer, never had & don't plan on spending more money to resolve a problem that I never had before. Their questions to us were uncalled for. We have been washing clothes for many years and have never encountered this type of Lint problem.
Then they suggested names of service repair companies in our area. Two different repairmen on different occasions came and saw the clothes. Dark clothes with dark lint, whites with white lint and balls of lint, beige clothing with dark lint. The local repair companies told us that their is a design flaw with the Maytag washer and that we are not the only ones who have this problem.
Economically, this Atlantis washer is costing us time and money. After every wash we always need to wipe away lint from the tub and/or wash an empty load to try to reduce the lint problem. We have gone from powder to liquid detergent. Cold water to warmer water. I feel we have patiently tried to do everything possible and Maytag doesn't care.
Maytag doesn't want to help us. We the consumer are getting the short end of it all. Furthermore, they have the nerve to send us a form to extend our warranty, for more $$ money again.
