I recently ordered a fairy garden sculpture from efairies.com. The statue, Fairy Euphoria, cost $249.95, plus postage & handling of $46.88 for a total $296.83. I decided to buy the statue during the Easter holiday because the company offered a 10% holiday discount, which in my case was $25.00.

When the statue arrived, I was very disappointed to see that it was not a 42" tall statue as the company claimed, but was a mere 35" tall. Seven inches is a lot when plans are made to install a 42" statue and one receives a 35" statue in its place. eFairies is a small company which operates out of a suite in Tumwater, Washington. They apparently are a distributor and they take orders on line and the orders are then filled by warehouses.

I told a female customer care representative about my disappointment. I reminded both her and the owner that they advertised another fairy statue at their website that was 34-35 inches tall, having the same amount of detail as my statue, and the cost of the 34-35" with the same detailing was only $149.99. Considering both statues were the same height and similar in design, I suggested to the owner that a discount to compensate me for their false advertising would be appropriate.

However, the owner and his customer service person had suddenly changed from a "service is our motto" position, as when I purchased the statue, to an antagonistic stance. The customer care representative snidely reminded me that they had already given me a $25.00 discount. I reminded her that the 10% was their holiday offer to bring business to their company and had nothing to do with the fact that they falsely advertised the statue that I bought.

In short, they thought I was trying to pull the wool over their eyes. The owner informed me he would telephone the manufacturer and relay the problem. The eFairies owner telephoned me one or two days later, saying the manufacturer insists that the Fairy Euphoria is 42" tall. The owner stated the manufacturer admits there may be a slight variance in the height of the Fairy Euphoria statue due to the position of the wings, but he stands firm on the height being no less than 40 inches. I told the owner of eFairies.com that this is absolutely incorrect.

I have measured the statue repeatedly and it is a mere 35" tall from the base to the wing tip, and not 42" as both the owner and the manufacturer claim. I suggested the owner change the advertisement at his website to reflect the correct size of the statue, and he said he had already done so. He changed the ad at his website from 42 to 40 inches even though the statue is still falsely advertised, is only 35" tall, and it is therefore over priced by about $100.00.
