U.S. Bank U.S. Bank
CHICAGO, IL
After reading the numerous complaints regarding U.S. Bank on your website, I feel compelled to add my story to the numerous others.
I am 65 years old and my relationship with U.S. Bank is the worst I ever experienced. Four years ago, I leased a vehicle through U.S. Bank. The problems I have had with them are too numerous to detail here.
Believe it or not, my biggest complaint has been that I requested they contact me at my office rather than my home. The reason is that when I am at home, I am having dinner, I may have guests visiting and my checkbook and other records are at work so I can't check anything from home. for four years they have steadfastly refused to comply with this simple request.
But I am in the midst of the biggest complaint right now. My least is up in April,. In January I spoke to their Lease Termination Department and offered to purchase the car out of lease. At that time, they agreed but told me not to make any further lease payments. Several weeks later they Called and said they could not go through with the purchase.
As a result, I purchased a new car and turned the old vehicle over to the dealer to hold until U.S. Bank picked it up. the next thing that happened, is that I got a bill with late charges for the payments they told me not to make. I called again, and told them what happened and asked that the late charges be canceled. They said this was no problem but that I should mail in my remaining 2 payments. Knowing from experience the shoddy way U.S. Bank handles things, i told the girl there that I would pay them in full as soon as I received a corrected bill with the late fees removed.
Yesterday, I called them and was told I would have to talk to the Lease Termination Department. Lease Termination told me to talk to Customer Service. In other words, all I got was a runaround. finally I talked to one lady who was quite unpleasant and she said under no circumstances would they cancel the late fees. she denied that anyone at U..S. Bank told me to stop making payments and also denied anyone told me the late fees would be canceled. Furthermore, she told me they had reported this delinquency to the Credit Bureau even though they KNEW this account was in dispute.
In summary, U.S. Bank lies to its customers routinely, skirts the law on numerous issues, and operates in such a way as to deny any assistance to them. Everything listed on your Website is true.
