This is a copy of the letter I tried to send to the dollar general store main office. I fell flat on my stomach and had to go to the doctor. I was blessed because I have a tummy and it protected me from severe injuries. But I have had an extremely hard 3 weeks. For days I could not take a deep breath and I was in terrible pain when I tried to stand up or lay down at night.

It was almost impossible to turn over in the bed. As you can see from my letter no one cares what happens to the customers as long as they spend their money. I was unable to wear my bra because of the compression against my ribs. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. They apparently are not interested in safety at their stores.

Dear Sir or Madam,

On the 3rd of March I wrote you about falling at one of your stores in Sneads Ferry. I have had a miserable 3 weeks. I am 71 and it takes quite a while longer for a person my age to recover from even small injuries. I am very disappointed in your lack of concern about me. Did you call or e-mail me to find out how I was? NO! Did you grace me with a letter or call about my doctor's bill? NO! Do you care about your customers? NO! Apparently all you care about is whether we spend our money there. I am not the only person who has been injured at this store. I know of one lady who had to have surgery. And as my husband and I was leaving this store, a man who was just coming up to the store, told us to be careful because the area that I fell was dangerous. He did not know that I had already fallen.

I think a letter to the editor of our local paper about your lack of concern and the unsafe conditions for elderly people is in order.
