This is a copy of my complaint to BBB about First National Bank of Omaha

FNBO Emerge Mastercard and Visa Complaint Type: General Complaint (not a car maker)

Date 6/9/2005

Primary Complaint Classification: Service Issues

Secondary Complaint Classification: Selling Practices I had a Fleet Visa credit card which was sold to FNBO Emerge Card. They sent a letter stating a raise in interest rate and imposing a $25 annual fee whereas before I had no annual fee. They sent another contradictory letter sating my cardholder agreement will not change.

They said if I don't accept the new credit card terms I must call the at 866-646-7027 to cancel my

account or write PO BOx 105555 Atlanta GA 30348-5555. I called 3 times; each time being on hold for 30 to 45 minutes with no answer. I hung up and called their customer service at 888-233-9538. I was on hold another 20 minutes and was transferred to someone in India. He wanted my full SS# which I refused to give, then he said he wanted to "verify" my address and mother's maiden name abd DOB...he wasn't verifying the info, he was typing it in, because he didn't have it to begin with (he asked me to repeat everything several times while he typed the info.)

Then he said they couldn't close my account from there and transferred me to the previous number... 20 hold minutes later I hung up. I then e-mailed them through their website www.emergecard.com

saying I would like to close my acct and pay off the balance; got no response at all! Complained to their parent company FNBO, whose response was please contact Emerge Card Directly, we have no access to your account. I would if I could! Tried to login on their site to pay off my bill: Their site doesn't work at all! It says "technical difficulties, call customer service," everyday since 6/6/05. Please help! I want this account closed and I want online access to pay off my card balance in full. I've had a little

difficulty with credit card companies before, as I'm sure most people have, but this is just something else. I don't know what type of game first national Bank of Omaha and their Emerge company are playing, but this is not right! Please tell them they can't do this to people. Thank you for your help.

Desired Settlement: Other (requires explanation)

Settlement Explanation:

To close my account and restore online access to pay off my balance. To make this parent company tell their susidiary they can't treat people like this. Customer Service Rep: website Product or Service: FNBO Emerge credit card nima Click this link to e-mail the message author: Email User

This company is a joke and fraudulent. I requested that they close my account over 2 years ago. I owed them nothing. I pulled my credit report last year and found they had charged my card a service fee and because I didn't receive a bill it was reported late. I sent a dispute to Equifax and contacted Emerge again and was told my account was closed. I just pulled my credit report today (5-24-10) and see where this company charged my card again for another fee. The account is supposed to be closed. AVOID this company at all costs. I am now trying to get this off my credit report. BEWARE!!!FRAUD!!!

I do understand your frustration with this company. When I first got this card about eight years ago, it was issued from a company called Aria and I believe their parent company was Providian (now Washington Mutual). I've maintianed good financial standing with this company for years. Today I called customer service in order to add my mother as ann authorized user, only to be placed on hold for about five minutes, and have the representative (someone in India) tell me my account had been closed in February. Without warning or notice, this institution closed my account. Why? Because I maintained a zero balance since August 2007. Can you believe that?! I demanded to have my call routed back to America so I can speak to someone who speaks correct English, not someone I can barely understand. To my surprise she offer no resolution. She told me the only way to reactivate my card was to reapply. I explained to her that I have been in good standing with all my creditors for years and asked how could they treat a good customer like this. Keep in mind that I've never raised my voice to either representative. Both of them were the absolute worst. They each accused me of badgering them personally. I told her that if she can't handle customer complaints then she needs to find another job. If this is how they treat a customer in good standing, I can only imagine what they do to others. I do understand your frustrations and I wish I can offer you some assistance. To everyone having issues with Emerge Master Card...I wish you all the best of luck and I hope your problems can be resolved.

I recently did a balance transfer to get out from under this company. They call me a week later to say i hadn't given them a payment. While i have the collections agent on the phone, i log into the other company (the one that paid them) and the transaction was showing, the balance had indeed transferred to them. emerge told me it was my responsibility to figure out why they have no record of this payment. I told them I didn't have nearly the resources they did for researching their own internal snafu. Meanwhile i have interest accruing to what will be a felonious amount in a month on a debt i no longer owe them. I say this because in a month they will have charged me over $200 in interest + late fee for nonpayment. I don't see how this isn't stealing?

I am not a buss but I do have a account with this STUPID company . never ever will I choose them or tell a friend to use them . To get a human being on the phone is not happening and they do not have a number listed any where . There web site stinks . They seem to have a dark secret to hide and they are making it hard to contact them . Maybe it is so they can charge late fees etc but like I said never will I use them again.

Yes, the folks at eMerge are way south of ethical. They purchased my credit card company years ago and even after I paid the bill in full they continue to send me invoices for "credit services". I finally agreed to pay the "bogus" amount they said I owed (after they reported me late to all three credit reporting companies) and they now say I owe an additional $69.00 in "fees". It's unreal that a company this sleazy can get away with this sort of business practices in the 21st century.
