210 246 7894 - SBC Hang Up Calls

I lodged this June 2004 and since then have gotten quite a few e-mails from others molested by this telephone company. The practice of making multiple hang-up calls seems to be a ploy to verify that a telephone number is active and to target it for advertising. Multiple calls from SBC were disrupting my caller ID making it useless. Other victims had said that SBC agreed to remove them from the call list but would not do so for several months in accordance with their company policy.

I advised SBC by e-mail that hang up calls constitute telephone harassment under the laws of the state of texas. I further advised that I would report them to the Texas Attorney General if I received even one more of their calls. I made it clear that I did not care about their company policy and would not be content to wait the policy ordained weeks or months until they got around to respecting my privacy.

This worked out very well as I have received no further calls from SBC.
