Subway Sandwich Subway Sandwich
Subway and Salad shop located at 7188 Dempster in Morton Grove, IL 60053 On June 5th, 2005 at roughly 7:00 pm, I entered the above Subway to obtain a sub sandwich for my Mother in Law who is ill. My Mother-in-Law, who is a senior citizen, said that the Subway card that she handed me could be redeemed for a free, 6 inch sub sandwich with the purchase of a drink. Upon presenting the Subway card to the cashier (who was the same person who prepared the sandwich), the cashier said the card program no longer exists. I said other Subway locations are taking the Subway cards. Nowhere did I see the sign which stated that the Subway card program was going to be phased out in August of 2005 (which I have seen at other Subways). Since this seemed rather odd, I asked the cashier to show me the text that stated that the Subway card program was no longer active. The cashier repeated that the card program no longer exists. Again, I asked the cashier for text stating this. At this time, he called to another person in the back room who looked like a manager. The manager said they only take cards from customers of their store and that he does not recognize me. I asked where the sign was that other Subway stores have which states that the Subway card program ends in August. He responded that they do not have that here, that since he did not recognize me, and that this card could not be used at his store. I said the sandwich and drink are for my Mother-in-Law who lives just a few blocks away and is a regular customer. He said she should have come in then and that they cannot allow me to use the card. I said she was ill and could not leave the house. I mentioned that this was not what the rest of Subway was doing. The Manager abruptly removed the just prepared sandwich from counter, put the sandwich into a refrigerator and said Go on! Get out of here! and then swore at me as I left. My Mother-In-Law is on a very limited budget and wants to use her cards before the end of the program. She was understandably very surprised and upset, especially with the Managers response. She has been going to that Subway location for the last several years now. Since my Mother-in-Law does not drive, it is very difficult for her to walk to other Subway locations. I called the Morton Grove Police who said this was a civil matter and that the best thing to do is to contact a good attorney. I will check with the State of Illinois and Village of Morton Grove to see if they can help at all. The officer (another officer joined him) also said that he would speak with the owner. My Wife, my Mother-in-Law, my Brother-in-Law, my Wifes Uncle, and myself have all been visiting Subway for at least the last 10 years. We are trying to redeem the Subway cards that we have accumulated over the years of being loyal customers. We feel this great pressure to redeem all of our Subway cards within a short period of time and now some Subway employees are backing out of the Subway Card program early. After this last experience, Quiznos is starting to look much more appealing. You can sue the manager as well as whoever hired this so called "scumball"... I mean come on how much do you people pay for your sandwiches? Wanna read a genuine complaint? I was once denied my food because I was a whole penny short of the price I had to pay (I placed two large to go orders)..I was a repeat customer the Manager knew me...I even promised to return the next day with the elusive penny, but she said no then threw my order away in front of me before I could say or do anything naturally I found a penny in another pocket milliseceonds after she threw my order away, because of a lousy penny and a moronic Subway Manager I had to go home empty handed..I no longer get my food at Subway..their rivals get all of my business now..Good Bye Subway! I to am a victim of a sub shop. On many instances I was denied access to their sandwiches based on the whims of some minimum wage manager. In fact, one time they even left the pickles off my sandwich without just cause. This was done after I requested pickles to be applied to my sandwich twice. Simply cutting costs was the excuse. I was pregnant and craved those pickles. Who knows? Not getting those pickles may have affected my baby. They should know that pregnant mothers need their pickles. Like, what were they thinking?
