In March 2005, I paid my phone bill. Not having the bill ahead of me at the time I paid what Sprint said I owed. Later, thinking that the phone bill was more than it should have been, found the bill and on the last page listed a $16.90 charge from Integretel Services billing on the behalf of Member's Edge. I made a phone call to this Integretel to ascertain what exactly this charge was for. I was informed that it was an email service, etc. I explained that I have not ordered such services and would like them cancelled. (To begin with this was set up on my son's phone line that does not have a computer or internet services to.) I was assured that within 1-2 billing cycles I should see a credit. I called Sprint to explain this to them and was told that if it showed up again that I was not pay the amount but to dispute it.
April bill comes and has this charge again. I called Integretel and Sprint again. At this point seems as though I had been paying this since January. Sprint says that it is going to put $46.?? into dispute and I was to pay the remainder of the amount. I paid my balance.
May bill comes and I finally have a credit from Integretel, but the previous disputed $46.?? is still on my phone bill, which I am having to pay a late fee for as well. I call Sprint once again. Now I am told that I should have paid those charges to avoid a late fee. I was also assured by Sprint and Integretel that my son had to have done this from my home computer and I could check it if my cookies had not been deleted, but since this started on Dec.23, 2004 it was not likely that they would still be there. But quess what? Cookies apparently have never been deleted from this computer since I got it and quess what is not listed anywhere...........Member's edge.....or........Integretel.
A lesson to be learned from this experience.........Check your phone bills closely........I was assuming the extra I was being charged for was long distance and just paying what Sprint said that I owed.
I have also asked for a block to avoid this in the future and was informed that due to FCC regulations I could not do that. What steps can I take to prevent this from happening again?
