I had adelphia high speed internet and basic cable + movie channels for about a year without any problems. This cost $84 per month. In mid 2003, I lost about 20 channels and, at exactly the same time, the cable internet lost signal. I called customer support and went through the process of scheduling a tech to visit in several days time. I lived in a gated apartment complex and left explicit instructions that I needed to be called so that I could let the tech in. These instructions were not followed and I spend half a day off work, waiting for a tech who came and then left without contacting me. Called customer service, arranged another tech visit. This time I watched the front of the building until I saw a telecom van, and let the tech in. They looked at my modem, determined that it might be faulty, and replaced it. From then on the service would only work about 5 days per week. I got another tech out twice and they could not find any problem. When I mentioned that there was a relationship between my loss on channels and the cable internet losing signal, I saw told "you should not have had those channels anyhow". I suspect that an adelphia tech had been installing cable for another apartment, and installed/removed/altered a filter in my cable line. When my cable was originally installed, I watched the two tech guys do this to other apartments, so I know it is done. Fast fprward 18 months. Finally sick of 5 day a week intewrnet, I get DSL and wait until that has been working successfully for a month. I call adelphia and request that the service is disconnected. The support person then spent a long time trying to stop me closing the service, promising that it would be fixed the next day. I responded "so what is different about tomorrow than the last 18 months?"
