I have never felt compelled to register a formal complaint against any company but my experience yesterday with Action leaves me no alternative. I contacted Action on May 31 to inquire if they could service my gas stove which required a new flex hose from the supply to the stove in order to comply with new standards as specified by Enbridge. The receptionist/secretary who arranged the appointment was very polite and was willing to put a rush on the job but I explained this was not necessary as the stove was still functioning normally. An appointment was then made for June 7 with a time specified between 1 and 3 P.M. I gave them my home and business telephone numbers to contact me in case of problems. On June 7, I took a half day vacation to ensure I was home before 1. I then waited for the serviceman to arrive. At 3:15, as nobody had arrived and I had not been contacted by phone, I contacted Actions offices at 416-752-1068. The person I spoke to suggested that the serviceman may just be running a little late and suggested I phone him direct. His name was Brian and he could be reached at 416-839-8947. I did as requested and phoned this number but got voice mail. I explained that I was waiting for a service call and asked that he return my call. This call was made before 3:30 P.M. Shortly after 4:30 P.M.. Brian returned my call and offered no apology for being late. I reminded him that the time window of 2 hours had by this time stretched to 4 hrs. He said he could be there in a half hour and I agreed to this if he could offer some assurance that there would be no further delays as I had a dinner appointment. He could offer no assurance and then asked if I wanted him to come or not. I replied that, in view of his attitude, it may be as well to cancel. To this, his parting rejoinder was " Well, f--k you" I feel you and the public should be made aware of the unprofessional, unreliable and verbally abusive nature of this Company and it's employees.
