Aetna HMO Health Insurance.

I am disappointed with Aetna.

My primary car physician referred me to a chiropractor for a herniated disk as an alternative to back surgery. The PCP applied to Aetna for a referral and received it with a limitation of 12 visits. Upon arriving at the chiropractors office, I was informed that Aetna now refused to pay ANY chiropractors fees as it was not covered under my policy. I acknowledge that my policy (HMO) does not include chiropractors, I believe that a referral by my primary care physician should be covered. The alternative is a far more expensive spine surgeon. I called their customer service number and spent fifteen minutes talking to their computer. When I finally was able to reach a real person, I was informed that complaints could be place in my file but that were not read by anybody. What a sham ! They say that are in the health business, but in reality they are professional loop hole finders. What a terrible way to make a living. I will drop AETNA as soon as possible, and I strongly recommend that if they are your insurance company, that you drop them too. Kevin
