Kanguru Solutions offered a manufacturer rebate of $20 on purchase of a DVD drive sold through a retailer. Kanguru Solutions' rebate submission form indicated rebate would be paid within 6-8 weeks. I mailed my submission on 1/2/05 and confirmed that they received the submission on the rebate status website. Rebate wasn't paid by 3/22, so I contacted the CEO of Kanguru and he told me I'd just have to be patient. I had to contact the retailer where I made the purchase and the BBB (case #108951 at the Boston BBB) to put pressure on Kanguru to honor their turnaround promises. In the end it took more than 11 weeks before the rebate was paid and only after my persistent contact with their president. Sheesh, for $20 he spent more time defending his position than it would have taken to cut a check. Apparently they saw the light, because they ended up cutting a check rather than waiting for their rebate processor to complete the process. Kanguru was unwilling to do anything except split hairs (they said their form indicated "about" 6-8) weeks and the president literally said I was being unreasonable because I expected it to be paid on time. I had all supporting documentation but they used a 3rd party rebate processor and wouldn't take the time to get involved even though the obligation to me came from Kanguru, and not their rebate processor. This was poor conduct and bad faith execution.
