Im lodging a formal complaint against Dell Financial Services and Dell Customer Service. I bought a Dell X50v pda March 22nd using my Dell Preferred account. After being unhappy with the unit I returned it mid April. At the end of April I received my first Dell Preferred account statement. It didnt show my return yet but that was to be expected. About a week later I received a call from their collections agency telling me my payment was late. I told them I returned the product and didnt owe them anything. They told me that I needed to call customer service. I told them that they needed to call customer service because I already returned my product.
They said it was my problem. So they called back about 10 times over the next few days. I was out on vacation to New York. When I got back, I had messages on my voicemail like Tom, if you dont pick of the phone we will keep calling. When I got back I finally broke down and called customer service. They told me that they had received the return. So I called DFS back and gave them the RMA #s. Things were okay for about a week when DFS started calling again, several times a day. So I called up customer service (its 5/31 now) and talked to Samir in customer support. He took down the tracking numbers (apparently there was an issue finding the return), tracked them, and said I should be receiving a credit in about 7 to 10 days.
So here we are 6/28. I got a few calls from I customer service saying that they were still working on the credits then collections starts calling again. I called DFS only to find out that the return had been canceled because they said they hadnt received product. So I had to call customer service again and have the returns/credits reissued. Of course customer service has no access to DFS and DFS has no access to collections so Im still going to get harrased. Through this whole process no one has offered to own the problem and resolve it. I have to call customer support, then DFS back and forth. I will never buy a Dell product again and have pity for anyone who tries to return a product they bought on their Dell Preferred Card.
