Dear Consumer Complaints. I am a consumer who purchased a 30" Thermador gas stove from Allen and Petersen in Anchorage Alaska. We installed it 12 months ago. It has been broken over 25% of the time we have owned it. Initially, there was a problem straight from the factory- apparently certain things in the stove were not tightened and gas was escaping into our kitchen and would ignite in a large blue flame. This was diagnosed and repaired under warranty by Golden North Home Center (Fairbanks, Alaska). Then, in March (8 months later), the two ultra-lo burners stopped functioning (the entire burner, not just the ultra-lo feature).
We have had a repair person out three times and it still has yet to be repaired. Our warranty expired on June 10th, 2005. We initially tried to deal with Thermador directly (specifically, Delia in customer service). This was an utter failure- all service records were faxed to Delia. Unfortunately, all we got was the runaround. I called over 10 times, and never got 1) a straight answer or 2) a call back. We were requesting to have our warranty extended.
So, then we attempted to go through the company that sold us the stove (Allen and Petersen). They have had no better luck getting an answer out of Thermador, and according to them, their phone calls have gone unanswered as well- It has been OVER THREE MONTHS- and the stove is still not working. Thermador (Bosch) should be ashamed of the way it deals with its customers. This product is supposed to be superior and have the service to back it up. I am amazingly disappointed and will never buy a Thermador product again. If you have a lemon from Thermador, let the Fed Trade Comm., your state's attorney general and the Better Business Bureau know! Cheryl R.
