Amana Washer Model ALW210RAW purchased 4/22/00

Purchased Amana Top Loading Washer Model ALW210RAW on April 22, 2000 at local appliance store for $479.76. Washer has been used in same location for a family of two. During spin cycle, smoke came from the washer and filled the house before we got it unplugged. I understand this is common for Amana Washing machines to go out and fill your house with smoke and possibly fire after using only 5 years. I think this washer is a big rip off -- Amana company ought to be ashamed of themselves selling this kind of junk to consumers. I previously had a Whirlpool washing machine (it was a less expensive model) that was used for 2 adults and 3 children from when their birth through college that lasted 18+ years.

I expect some help from Amana on this issue.
