Bell Sympatico High Speed Internet Service Toronto, Ontario, Canada I cancelled my service at the end of December 2004. I returned the modem to the local Bell Store where I live. In mid-March I received a letter asking for the return of the modem. The letter was addressed to my estate since, for some unknown reason, Mother Bell thought I was deceased. I called Bell, spoke to someone who apologized and asked me to fax my return receipt for the modem. I did this the next day. In mid-April I received a letter from a local collection agency advising me to forward them $194.00 for the cost of the modem or legal steps would be undertaken against me.
I called Bell and after repeated transfers, finally reached someone who managed (I hope) to clear it up. I am now on my own to check with the local credit reporting agency to ensure that no reference of this matter blemishes my perfect credit rating.
