Sears Air Conditioning Sales and Service Sears Air Conditioning Sales and Service
Sears Air conditioning sales and service; Jackson, MI. We purchased a central air system from Sears and found the entire experience disappointing. First, the salesman told us that Sears utilized their own service and installation people, and did not rely on contractors, this was not true.
Second, after our purchase agreement was finalized, Sears lost our order and it took me two weeks and five attempts before we got a contractor, not a Sears employee, but someone Sears had hired for the job to come out and do the installation, which took two days.
Third, the installation was done incorrectly. Our furnace and consequently the condenser was installed in the attic. The condensate line was installed on an incline, so the water did not run "down" and out of the house, but pooled in the line and backed up in the condenser. In addition, the line was not sealed properly so it leaked. After a week of running the air, we had to mop up the attic, and throw away the wet insulation.
I called the Sears helpline and was rudely told since it was after 5 PM there was nothing they could do to help. I called the Sears salesman and never even got a call back. I called the installer, who did return my call the following day. Without even coming out to look at the problem he has determined he needs some type of new washer. That was two weeks ago and I have called him three times. He is waiting on the "part". I am disgusted with the lack of commitment, pride, and accountability this company has exhibited. I will never buy another Sears product and the Sears Company is indicative of why the label "made in America" should be read with skepticism.
