RE: Tin Ceiling Installer 7/7/05
La Jolla Lighting is not the problem or owner. The subcontracter is the problem. He put in the tin ceiling. When trying to get a copper tin ceiling put in it became a problem with many delays. The staff didn't know about a reorder of copper tin molding that had to be returned due to wrong sides. We weren't even in their computer system. That is not anyone's fault but miscommunication. Right? What I do have a problem with is the installer (D.C.) taking so long to get back, not calling when he said he would and dropping pieces of tin molding on my countertop that chipped it. He denied a small piece of tin could do that. (Maybe if it were granite and not a laminated top it would be ok). He had just left and I called him back on the phone.
He said he didn't do it. "I'm not calling you a liar, but I can't believe that piece of tin dropped did that." (It did do it.) "What do you want me to do about it?" An apology would be nice! My only regret is not going into the bathroom when I heard things drop. I told him to come back and see it. He didn't. My instincts were right. The work is shoddy with molding bowing out and random staples making molding off center. I spend over a week to laminate this counter top (HGTV instructions) and it was in perfect condition before he came over. I even put paper towels on top of it so it wouldn't be scratched. Please make sure you inspect everything carefully, and watch the person(s) putting in any tin ceiling if this is what you what. Now I think we should've done it ourselves. I called the company, but what can they do?
