When it comes to HDTV service and dish network, I am amazed that a new dish network customer can get the 942 for $249 while an existing customer is asked to pay $700 to upgrade. This is no way to build customer satisfaction or improve upon the revenue you receive from me every month.
I enjoy my dish service enough to remain a customer, yet I see no way that they will let me. I despise the decision making in how they service new customers only. It should be the opposite if you want to run a business and attract new customers. Existing customers pay for the expenses and feed the bottom line, not new customers. Sounds a lot like social security, and look how well that turned out... Besides, existing customers are the ones new customers listen to when deciding to join.
Dish is kidding themselves if they think they can only 'afford' to do this for new customers. You will lose existing customers to the competition for the way you add new customers if this is your policy. Those that do not leave become very disgruntled. Look at those companies that have fail for similar bad policy, indirectly this costs a business far more in the long term.
Existing customers are offered the equipment you can't sell and quickly have outdated products and as a result of you policies. You would find long term you could lower churn rates by making policy changes that allow current customers to upgrade to services they want. Cable looks better every day.
