Lawn Treatment Service - Early Spring Application

Name of Business: TruGreen Chemlawn

P.O. Box 490

West Chicago, IL 60186-0490 Complaint: I did have service with TruGreen Chemlawn, way back before 2000. Since 2000, I have service with Spring-Green of Plainfield, Illinois. I have annual contract with them and I prepay at the beginning of the year to get a 7-10% discount. In early 2004, I did receive an offer from TruGreen Chemlawn to service my lawn, which I did not accept. They claimed that they came and treated my lawn. They billed me for it. I called them and explained that I have an annual contract with another lawn service and I did not authorize them to come and treat my lawn and that I refuse to pay for it. But they would not listen and kept on calling, billing and threatening. Finally, on 23 June 2004, I wrote them a strong letter putting all the facts in words and asking to get off of my back. With much arguments back and forth, they stopped pestering me. Then again in early 2005, the story repeated. They, TruGreen, sent me a proposal. I did not respond as I did not need a service from them. I had renewed my contract with Spring-Green with a full prepayment for the entire 2005 year and did not need another lawn service company to come treat my lawn. I have been getting regular scheduled service from Spring-Green per the contract. Then, I got a $30.40 billing from TruGreen for 3/16/2005 lawn treatment. I called them and explained that, I have contract with another lawn care provider and TruGreen service was not needed and not authorized. They claim somebody from our household, authorized the service over the phone. We have been battling that back and forth ever since. TruGreen has been sending me bills every two weeks, calling me and threatening to send the account to collection agency. I am very unhappy with the way they are pestering me. They probably harmed my lawn by effectively doubling the Early Spring Application. At least they have not helped. They also caused me significant anguish by pestering me. I do not know how to get this monkey of my back. The amount of money is not that great. But why should I pay for something that I do not need and may even hurt my property? I want TruGreen to NOT EVER call me or send me a proposal for lawn service or any other service. Actually TruGreen owes me an apology and compensation for damaging my lawn. I would appreciate any help in stopping this harassment. Thank you very much. Sincerely,

Vasant
