Apple Vacation Bad Apple

We had booked an Apple Vacation 6 months in advance to Punta Cana for Christmas week 2004/2005 for 5 rooms for 3 families.

Problems were as follows:

The plane was delayed 14 hours, and although Apple new of a delay a day ahead of time, their website and 800 number had the plane leaving on time.

For this 14 hour delay at the airport, they sent everyone a $100 voucher to be used on a future Apple Vacation.

Upon arrival at 4AM at the Palladium Bavaro hotel in Punta Cana, the 5 rooms that were supposed to be in the same building, booked 6 months in advance, were spread out into 3 different buildings not even close to each other. Three of the rooms that were supposed to have king beds all had 2 doubles instead. They did get us into 2 buildings on the opposite ends of the property, but the proper room configurations were never achieved.

The A/C only worked about 10% of the time. There were problems with plumbing, and with the room safe. Although we called to complain many times per day, these matters were never resolved.

Although non-motorized boats were included in the package, they were unavailable the 1st 3 days that we were there, however, the boats that you pay for were available. Amazing.

Although a 5 Apple rating, the sports facilities at this property were run down. The pool table had ripped felt and the cue sticks had no felt. The basketball rims were bent up, and the basketballs were bald. The miniature golf had 27 golf clubs, but only 7 balls. The rifle range was out of ammo. The tennis tournament got cancelled. The pool was frequently out of towels.

Food was sub par, often not refilled when it ran out, and often was sitting out too long and dried out. Although our group was 12 people, they would not push tables together to accommodate our group in the dining rooms, so we never got to eat together.

Unless you were aggressive, they made no attempt to let people know where and when activities were taking place.

We paid top dollar for the peak week, and Apple Vacations didn't deliver what we were supposed to get.

They had Apple Reps at the hotel and all they could tell us was to call Customer Service when we got back from our trip. I kept telling them that we wanted problems resolved while we were there, not after we got home, when it would;ld be to late to enjoy our vacation.

Our travel agent had no luck getting a response from Apple Vacations either.

After we got home, we contacted Apple Vacations, and called, emailed, and faxed them a list of the problems. After 3 months of leaving follow up telephone calls, emails, and faxed, they finally responded saying they were looking into the matter. After 3 months, they sent a correspondence the hotel manager in Punta Cana. The hotel manager responded by saying that because it took so long foe Apple to contact them, there was no way they could remember what happened so long ago.

Apple has yet to take responsibility for any of the problems to this date. The hotel gave us a $100 per room good faith credit, and Apple has done nothing.

Would not recommend Apple Vacations.
