In response to the complaint. Pets are allowed only with prior approval and then a $75.00 non-refundable charge is assessed this was clearly stated on the website. I would never have approved two large hairy dogs much less four dogs. The guest in this case if she reviewed her paperwork would find no extra charges on paper and review of the notes did not indicate any approval. Actually my neighbors called me and advised that there were "four dogs" at the home none which were approved and a lot more people than the home was reserved for. We have zero tolerance for extra guests without prior approval. Perhaps getting in late at night and asking the key to left out should have been a clear sign that something was amiss with this guest. Our contracts clearly state that if additional guests or any violation of the terms of the contract occur guests will be asked to leave with no refunds. Not only did they violate the terms of the contract but they also took the key to the unit and I advised them upon return of the key they would receive their deposit back. No response. There was black hair all over the white walls, white carpeting, white woodwork and sand all over since was raining and Newfoundland's have large paws bringing in much sand. They were obviously not in cages but all over the house. I advised her could kennel dogs and okay to stay "dogs could not be kenneled per guest" and she was asked to leave. Home was never misrepresented photos on the internet very clear as to size of dune and never advised stairs to the beach in front of home etc. etc. The bringing of the dogs could hardly have been an oversight on her part. I feel that Traverse City is probably a great place for her with two large dogs to vacation and I hope she is honest with the people she rents from in this lovely city. Sandbox- Maureen Moravec

I haven't had the chance to deal with this due to family issues.
However, we rented this place. At the time we went through VRBO the property was listed as "pet friendly". We corresponded via email with the owner and rented the place for a week.
It was nice but clearly misrepresented on two fronts.
1. The dune you see has more dune behind it - a lot more dune to the tune of approx 4 stories tall, if not taller. This is what you have to climb in order to get over it and walk approx a 1/2 mile to the beach. You best have significant hill climbing ability to get to the top as there are NO stairs, just sand.
2. The property was listed as pet friendly (I have it in paper form for the lawsuit) - this was one of the most important features as we have show quality newfies we don't leave in a kennel. However, we did bring their cages. Not long after arriving, the owner Maureen Moravec was on the phone screaming at me and threatening to have the sheriff throw us out due to the 2 dogs. We found out later from our lawyer, this was not possible, we still felt threatened. This was after she cashed the checks of course. I said the dogs are fine and the property was misrepresented and she continued to scream and threaten. As my family did not feel safe and felt we were may be renting from some sort of Pysco we said, fine meet us at the house in an hour with a cashiers check returning our money. She agreed to be there. Three hours later they finally showed up with NO MONEY! I told her this was stealing, she yelled something about a contract... which we never receive nor was anything signed, other than our check!
Do yourself a favor, if you are looking for a house in Michigan... try going father North to the Travis area where owners conduct themselves as fair business people and not thieves!
