I am a teacher at a private boarding school in Massachusetts, and we frequently take the kids to Boston to go shopping on weekends. The school is a special needs school and specializes in learning disabilities. The kids are intelligent, but sometimes sort of naive and immature. Last weekend, one of our kids was in Urban Outfitters and he fell, landing on one of the "urban" patches of untreated concrete in the story. He cut his knee pretty badly and bled on the floor. The employees on duty gave him some paper towels and told him to mop up the blood; they did not give him anything to clean himself up with, nor did they allow him to use the restroom to do it there or give him the band-aid he requested. This kid is 14 years old, lives in a rural community, and was scared to death. The employees at the store merely scared him more, and he is already insecure about being considered "stupid." This experience only made it worse, and by the time that he made it to the pre-established meeting place for the kids, he was almost in tears. This treatment was completely unnecessary and the employees and management of Urban Outfitters should be ashamed oof themselves for this shabby behavior towards a customer!
