In January 2005 my wife took her 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT to NTB located on Route 14 in Crystal Lake, IL. and had her transmission fluid changed and new windshield wipers installed. After a very long wait they finally completed the job, performed by a very young, alledged trained technician. The next day the area was hit by significant snow fall, and during her long drive home the wiper that was just installed, flew off forcing my wife my wife to pull off to the side of the road on a very busy highway to wait for the police to arrive and luckily they were kind enough to hunt down a rag to attach to the wiper arm to prevent it from scratching the windshield further. My wife stated she told the Police Officer of the NTB install job, ironically the officer told her they srewed one of his personal vehicles in the past also.
After she advised me of the windshield wiper incident(causing my pregnant wife to sit on the shoulder of a very busy highway during a snowstorm causing her untold danger) I told her they probably screwed up the transmission fluid change as well.
2 days later my wife called me again, she told me her car was not shifting out of 2 gear (Automatic Transmission). I sent her to the Pontiac dealer, they had the car up on the lift for 5 minutes and told my wife the transmission fluid was 3 Quarts low. My wife, fearing her warranty would be void after having work performed at unauthorized maintenance facility did not mention the massive NTB failure to the service advisor.
My wife contacted the Manager of the Crystal Lake, IL NTB and advised him his failure to properly refill her transmission fluid and the improper install of wiper blade. The manager then grew defensive and demanded which dealer she took the car to. My wife advised him that was not going to happen due to warranty issues. She then called a second time and asked for a regional manager phone number, the manager then repeatedly told her calling his boss would not help her, she then gave up dealing with him.
My determined mother-in-law also contacted that same manager and she stated he was very rude to her and put her on hold several times for 10-15 minutes every time. We all decided to wash our hands of NTB forever and agreed to tell all our friends & family never to use NTB. As a good consumer word of mouth is pretty much all we can do. I ecourage everyone who reads my message to tell their friends & family to stay out of NTB. If NTB sent me a voucher for free tires I wouldn't take it. Thats why I never sent them anything, NOTHING will get to use them ever again.
