To Whom It May Concern: Address 1:.Budget Car & Truck Rental , 3721 North Broadway, Chicago, Illinois 60613, 773-528-1770

Address 2: Cendant Car Rental Group which is located at 6 Sylvan Way, Parsippany, New Jersey 07054

Address 3: Cendant Car Rental Group Inc which is receiving mail at P.O. Box 690840, Tulsa, OK 74169.

My name is Joseph Robinson and I’m writing to get referals to pursue legal action against Budget Car & Truck Rental which is located at 3721 North Broadway, Chicago, Illinois 60613, 773-528-1770, Cendant Car Rental Group which is located at 6 Sylvan Way, Parsippany, New Jersey 07054 and Cendant Car Rental Group Inc which is receiving mail at P.O. Box 690840, Tulsa, OK 74169. I rent a car weekly because I go to visit my girlfriend in Indianapolis, Indiana and I choose this location because it’s connivance for me. I’ve lived in Lakeview for about 10 (ten) years and I’ve never experience any type of racism of this magnitude. This is 2005 and we have owners/employees living in a fantasy world of racism and it’s a disgrace to the Lakeview Community and the Gay Community to allow companies such as Budget Car & Truck Rental & Cendant Car Rental Group to pick and choose whom to treat fairly because of the color of a person skin or sexual preferences. I know I was mistreated unfairly and over charged for a compact car ($69.99 per day for a Mini Cooper). I filed a complaint with Budget Car & Truck Rental & Cendant Car Rental Group and was given a file number: (240557), I wrote for the 2nd time and I called several times to the Customer Services and I was told 3(Three) times someone will be calling me back about this incident. It’s July 22, 2005 I have not received a call about this incident. During the 1st(First Reservation), the manager asked for my name, credit card number I assumed he was going to complete the transaction but instead the manager wrote down my credit card number next to a list of other credit card number. I told the manager, “That’s a security issue because I found it odd to have my information and other customer information out so everyone can see it. I was not told it would be a $100.00 cancellation fee if the reservation were not honored. On the day of pick up I had requested the help of a third party because I made reservation for pick-up for the Mini Cooper- primarily because I left my credit card at home and would otherwise be unable to retrieve the card in a time to honor the reservation. The employee that answered the phone at Budget Car & Truck rental at the 3721 North Broadway location was reported as being very curt with my friend-rushing her through the phone conversation and finally indication that her card would be charged $100.00(One Hundred Dollars) should the reservation fail to be honored. I called the manager at Budget office to cancel my reservation after explaining that neither my friend nor I appreciated the version of customer service and to delete her credit card out of the system and to scatch it off the paper. Despite this fact, I continued my business relationship with this particular Budget location because I own a fitness Business next door to Budget Car & Truck Rental, I live 5 minutes away which is easy for me to get and return the vehicle, I get a discount through IBEW—www.unionplus.com and I get a corporate discount because I work at SBC(Southern Bell Communication) in Chicago, Illinois. Following the initial conversation in June, I made a reservation through a different branch employee for another Mini Cooper-without further incident and I was told I could use my coupon for that vehicle. I was told to bring it back upon return. Look at the tapes and you’ll see me presenting several pieces of paper I retrieved from online. On July 5th, 2005, I went to return the Mini Cooper that I rented from Budget Car & Truck Rental and Cendant Car Rental Group, while completing the transaction for the car return, the manager recognized my face, voice from our conversation and name and he expressed his disapproval of me canceling my reservation for the Mini Cooper- He said, Yeah, I know you. You’re the guy that dick us out of the reservation.” He remembers me because I placed the 1st(First) reservation with him and I cancel due to work hours and poor customer services. . My mouth dropped and I said, you don’t talk to customers like that, I’m a paying customer and you have no right to talk to me like that. While completing the transaction for the car return the manger attempted to goad me into a confrontation by pointing his finger in my face, my response was, “You do not have to point your finger in my face and you have no right to yell at me.” Look at the security videotape and you will see the manager pointing his finger in my face. When this proved unsuccessful, his unprofessional behavior culminated in a leaning over the desk while point his finger in my face and calling me a “Faggot Nigger.” Everyone that lives in the Gay Community is not Gay and for the record I am a Professional, Heterosexual, African-American Male, and as a member of a public corporation, your branch manager/license owner does not have a right to discriminate against either myself, anyone else, gender, color or sexual preferences. At this point I requested to speak to a office manager and was told, “I’m the a Manager.” I asked for the owner and I was told, “I’m the Owner too.” I told the Manager/Owner I was going to write to the Butter Business Bureau and he said, “Go Ahead.” I asked the Manger/Owner to explain my bill because I felt the charges were excessive and he refused to explain the bill. I asked why my card was charged $300.00 and $200.00 in the same day and he refused to explain the bill. There was another manager present and I assumed I could get an explanation out of him but instead he feed off the negative energy I received from the owner. When I ask him to explain the bill he response was, “You know how to read. Enjoy your day the bill is in front of you.” However, rather than risk further escalation, I chose to leave the premises at that time. On July 6, 2005 I returned to the same Budget Car & Truck Rental, which is located at 3721 North Broadway, Chicago, Illinois 60613, 773-528-1770 hoping to get a different employee to explain my bill. I was hoping I could talk to the last person I placed the last reservation from but instead I spoke to the manager and again he refused to answer my question and said, “If you don’t leave I will call the police. During the conversation over the phone with the police he continued to smile at me trying to make me upset while explaining his version of what happen. I assumed the 911 operator ask the manager if I had any weapons, the manager on duty response to the operator was, “I don’t know. I’ll check” I was while he was on the phone with the 911 operator on the phone, “Do you have any weapons?” My response was, I’m a college graduate, I have a decent job and why would I risk that.” Why did the manager say, “Do you have any weapons?” in my face with a smile. On the security videotape you will see the manager talking to me while on the phone. The response to the 911 operator should have been a Yes or No or I don’t know. Listen to the 911 call and I promise you will hear the manager asking me if I had any weapons because he did not take the phone away from his mouth and you will not hear any background noise because I was respectful and you will hear the manger did not have fear in his voice and form the question he asked me, that’s proof he tried to mock me by saying, “Do you have any weapons?” Upon arrival of the Chicago Police Department I explained my story to the officers and the officer told me it was a Civil Matter. I left and never returned. 1. I was not search for any weapons by the police because I posed no danger. 2. I did not look like a thug 3. The officer knew this manger was lying Note: 1. Look at the security tapes at Budget for both days and you will see the truth. 2. Listen to the 911 call that was made by Budget and you will hear him asking me do I have any weapons.

I have previously replied to this unfair, untrue and liabelous letter.

Every statement, other then he did rent here is untrue. The claim has been investigated by the State, City and Better Business Burea.

Fortunately there was a Law Professor from Northwestern University returning a car at the same time. He was interviewed by the above named agencies and totally refutes the description of the incident as stated by Mr. Robinson.

He stated that Mr. Robinson was highly aggated when he returned the car, constantly interrupted conversations between our Rental Representitives and their customers and made unreasonable demands as regard to a rate adjustment after the fact of the rental.

He further stated it was Mr. Robinson who brought up the issue of race and sexual preference when he was denied

the rate adjustment he wanted.

As to the parts of the letter the Professor did not have a part to they are also not factual.

Mr. Robinson had no credit card the first time he came in. He wanted us to use his girlfriends debit card and take the information over the phone. Told we couldn't do that he left. The reservation was not honored on his part.

The next time he made the reservation he was told it would have to be guaranteed with HIS credit card and in fact there would be a cancellation fee as he had "no showed" for his previous reservation.

As always there are two sides to every story. His, ours and the truth. In this case the ours and the truth are the same

according to a credible witness.

It is time this complaint is taken off of the web!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
