no wonder sears is having problems

Help! For our beach house we purchased a Kenmore range in the spring of 2003. Since this is a second home and mostly (if I cook) I grill it took 15 months until I realized the oven wasn't working properly. You can hear the gas and then the electric starter clicks but the oven doesn't light. Or the oven lights while baking as the oven cycles off it doesn't cycle back on again because the electric started doesn't ignite the gas.
When I called Sears in September 2004 and told them of my situation after numerous calls to many people they did in fact "fix" the oven.
I was told and someone at Sears confirmed that this is a KNOWN proplem with this oven. I must say I did think the problem was fixed. And, I have hardly used the oven. This past weekend, July 8-10, 2005 I did try to use the oven and again same problem.
Except this time after speaking to lots of people at Sears they will not take any responsibilty for the oven.
Although I do use the gas stove I rarely use the oven. And, even though the range is 2 years old and out of warranty it is only used weekends during the warmer months.
Since this "is a known" problem I believe that Sears should fix or replace the unit at their cost. I am sure there are many people in my boat. I do believe if the salesman had asked me if I'd like a range with "a known" problem I am sure I would not have bought this range.
Corporate will not take responsibility they want me to go to the store. That is a total waste of time, why would they incur the cost?
In addition I have bought a number of appliances from Sears. They have lost a customer. Carol Click this link to e-mail the message author: Email User From: Message Author (click here to email author) Date: Wednesday, 20-Jul-05 00:00:00 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
