I hired Two Small Men With Big Hearts to move the furnishings of my Nanaimo, BC, home to a storage facility in October 2004. First of all, the movers arrived two and 1/2 hours late. Next, they had no clue as to where my possessions were going after they'd loaded the truck. I had confirmed with their boss the previous day that he would have a storage locker ready to receive my belongings. However, he had not made the arrangements. The movers themselves were actually under the impression that they were taking the moving truck, by ferry, to mainland Vancouver! They had to arrange a last-minute delivery to an inconveniently distant storage facility because of this lack of basic planning. The original estimate I had been quoted was $1400. This included complete packing service for the contents of the house. However, I decided to save money and pack everything myself so that all the movers had to do was load everything onto the truck. Despite the fact that they had considerably less work to do than was reflected in the original estimate, the full amount of $1400 went through on my credit card that day. That was almost 9 months ago and I have yet to receive a satisfactory explanation for the overcharge. I have contacted the local moving branch and the head office numerous times. I registered my complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they also received no response from the company. Having exhausted all other avenues, I now have to go to the trouble of filing a small claims suit against them. I have seen others post similar complaints on the Internet. Two Small Men With Big Hearts Moving Company are obviously a disreputable and poorly managed organization and I advise anyone considering a move to avoid them.
