I was at this location on December 12th, 2004; 5:05pm, using the drive-thru. I was told to please wait to place my order. Four minutes went by, a young lady goes from the back door, across the parking lot, to an outside storage, On her way back, I asked if anyone was in there to take my order. She said nothing. A couple of minutes later, a young man ask for my order. I placed the order, and drove up to the window. I was told it would be $24.00 and some change.

I paid, and then when I was given my chance, asked why so much. He had 2 shrimp combo specials (2.99 each) on my order, that I did not order. I asked for a refund on those items. He directed the manager over to me (the lady crossing the parking lot). She gave me back $6.00 even, I asked for the tax back as well. She argued that was all I was going to get. I asked her name, repeatedly, each time ignoring me. Frustrated, she gave me 10.00 and some change. (so far I have 16.00 and some change). She slapped the window and I waited for my order.

The young man came back to the window, minutes later, and asked what else I needed. He said she gave me my money back. At this point, I was furious, as I had been in the drive-thru 25 minutes, so I asked him for her name, and he said he did not have to give it to me. I came home, and called the 800 number, spoke with a gentleman named Chris, filed my complaint, and he told me a manager would be calling me in the next few days. I waited a week, no one called, so I filed a complaint through the internet site. STILL NOTHING, and it has been 3 week, nearly 4 since the incident. Rick S

I am NOT surprised to note that this particular POPEYE'S is the target of complaints, but must admit that I thought I was the only one noticing their contempt for their customers, their continuing and relentless mixing-up of orders, the items MISSING from orders (which aren't noticed until you get home), and the general lacksidasical attitude of the (100% black) employees. (PLEASE NOTE that my noting of the employees' race is not expressed racism but simply an observation that may lead to better understanding of POPEYE'S hiring and training practices, vis-a-vis those they feel can be abused in the workplace, leading to such bad service.)

IN ANY EVENT: I've given this POPEYE'S at least two dozen chances and every single time was disappointed (to say the least) by POPEYE'S complete failure to accomplish the task of running a restaurant properly. There used to be a CHURCH'S CHICKEN directly across the street for years, but that was torn down relatively recently to make way for a huge gas station, unfortunately. The CHURCH'S was vastly superior --even though BOTH RESTAURANT CHAINS are owned by the same company!

This POPEYE'S remains in business only because it's the only chicken place for miles around and it's situated at the edge of an area called "Pea Ridge," a housing community for returning black G.I.s from WWII, and across Lemmon Avenue from Love Field Airport, home of Southwest Airlines. When you want fried chicken, there's only this one place!

Popeye's at 6502 Lemmon in Dallas, TX...horrible, horrible location!!!

I ordered at the drive through after waiting at least 15 minutes. I then watch as 2 people in front of my leave because they are taking forever! I get up to the window and the guy at the window starts asking me what my order was. I told him my order (#3, mild, dr. pepper) and he seemed confused and goes "are you sure you didn't order naked instead of mild?" I told him I was sure. He leaves the window and then comes back again and goes, "no, you ordered naked...not mild." I assured him I knew what I ordered and that 2 people in front of me had left and that he might have been confused because of that. He goes "oh, ok. Gimme a sec and I'll get your order." He hands me the bag with my bbq sauce and drink.

I should have looked in the bag...but didn't. I drove back up to work (around George Bush Tollway/190) and got in my office to sit and finally eat lunch. I opened it up and it was the wrong meal. After I had told him what I had ordered he gave me the complete wrong order.

I called the restaurant and it kept ringing and ringing and the fax machine would pick up. I finally got through and I told the guy on the phone what happened and he goes, "uhh, well when are you coming back to get your money back then?" I told him it was a credit card and to just "void" my transaction. He goes "Hold on a sec I gotta ask my manager." He comes back on the phone and says, "My manager Luis says I can't give you your money back until we get our food back." I was astounded. I asked him if he was serious and he almost sounded embarassed to say yes. I told him I was at work and about 20 minutes away and by the time I drove down there it would be the same amount in gas as the meal was. He goes "Well, I can't give you your money back until you bring our food back." I asked him what he was going to do with the food once I bring it back since he can't serve it again, and he started again with the "no food/no money" line again.

I took the food back later that day. No apologies, no "can we make it up to you?"...nothing. The guy behind the counter had me fill out a form, took my food in the bag and threw it all away, and after I filled out the form he goes "ok, it's done". That was it. The manageer "Luis" never came up to see me, ever after I had asked for him and they all stood staring at the back kitchen (no one went back there to get Luis) saying he's probably busy.

While I was there at the restaurant people in front of my (inside the restaurant) left and people behind me got aggrevated because the cashier didn't have a penny and told the woman that she had to wait to make change for pennies and it took the girl forever. Also, they were bagging up an order and the girl behind the counter goes "Umm, we're out of the chicken for the rest of your order, you'll just be short one." The woman got livid saying she paid for it, she better get everything she ordered. The girl said a smart remark under her breath and went back to digging around in the chicken and eventually found the missing piece.

I left a message complaint on the Popeye's website and I haven't heard back from anyone. I don't expect to get a response back either looking back at these complaints. I've filed with the BBB, but they don't have that exact location.

this is the same story with popeyes everywhere. they never ever respond to complaints and you will never get a reply from them.

here is my story:

in canada, popeye's is patronised by many muslims because of the halal aspect. but that seems to have become a source of arrogance and monopolistic attitude in their attitude and service. they seem to think that all customers who walk in there are doing so because they have no choice and are all brainless fools.

on atleast 3 occasions i have been given the wrong order or supplied with products not as shown in their offer. eg. more wings and drumsticks v/s thighs and breasts and they trying to pas it off slyly and if caught, respond by saying that they have run out of it and so on.

but what really shocked me was when i went there last, the store at terryfox and matheson in mississauga, ontario, canada, and was met by a long wait with no one at the cash to take orders. finally one guy, rahim, turns up and when asked about sandwiches, he sniggers and says they have fish, shrimp, chicken and GOAT sandwiches!! when i object and comment about this stupid remark of his, he laughs and insults me in front of other customers. i am 54 and this boy about 19-20. when i asked to see the manager, a chap called hamza walks up and when i explain to him, all he can say he is sorry. no word of admonishment to the employee or anything else. when i ask about the head office no. he stonewalls me and finally i do not get it. after many enquiries over the phone and the internet, i finally locate a customer service no. in usa. i have called there atleast 4 times so far, they listen and promise to get back. in more than 2 months, there is no action and finally i am going public.

i have also noticed a very cavalier attitude of their kitchen staff with hygiene and general cleanliness of their stores.

i have decided that from now on, not only will i never ever visit this lousy popeye's chicken stores, but will do my utmost to prevent others from going there too.
