Dell Dimension 8400 Dell Dimension 8400
I recently purchased a desktop from Dell - Dimension 8400 series - with Windows XP Media Center 2005 operating system. I have now discovered that my computer was built with the 2002 version of Media Center. I have spent hours on hold trying to speak with someone who can rectify the problem.
Finally, I had a long conversation with an arrogant representative in "case management with the advanced resolution group." Dell proposes to resolve the problem by sending a technician to replace the hard drive. I have read "horror stories" on complaint sites about the replacement of hard drives.
I think it is not unreasonable to expect Dell to replace the tower instead since I was sent a computer with the wrong operating system. I am already being inconvenienced by having to reload software, etc. let alone the hours I have spent trying to communicate with Dell technical support. I would not purchase a computer from Dell again nor would I recommend it to anyone.
