AT&T Universal Card Late Fee When No Bill Was Received

I had been a credit card holder with AT&T Univeral Card for probably a decade and always paid my bills in full prior to the due date. I didn't get a bill in December 2004, but knew that I had charged on the card. Knowing my bill was due near the ned of the month, I went on line on December 24, 2004, learned my bill was due on December 20, 2004, and paid the charges in full.

I checked my account on January 6, 2005, and learned that I was charged a $29.00 late fee. I contacted the company, but only received a canned response back. I closed the account the same night. Until AT&T was purchased by Citbank I never had any problems with the account. As soon as Citbank took over, problems began.

Now I know why Citbank is so large. Card holders beware. Write on your calendar when payment is due on this card, because even if you don't recieve a bill, you're responsible for a lete fee. I paid a $29.00 fee on a statement that was paid in full. If this happens to you, don't waste your time trying to contact the company. My best advice is to close out this card if you have it and find a company that will respond to your questions.
