FAX : 91-22-24919180 SUB : 1. Compensation sought towards the intense humilation and expenditure

suffered due to Non working of your card services during my international

trip abroad. .

2. Closure of my card services with you. Gentlemen,

How are you guys ?? Busy as usual I guess planning the future and running the present . In my present frame of mind I would take the liberty to add that the way you seem to run your present business is disgusting and needs change more than planning for future. I can talk for myself and would like you to convincingly placate ( In Kind ) my below penned horrifying ordeal due to your present services. Myself am an industrialist heading a medium sized organization and travel abroad frequently.I own a Standard chartered credit card ( VISA ) 4129 0473 8017 2071 ( Executive card ) . Infact I own this card since , maybe more than 6 years…and was satisfied ( barring your intrusion into a persons home privacy with your incessant marketing calls from your marketing staffers asking for more cards or some stupid questions ). Barring the marketing calls, I was satisfied with with the same untill this last experience of mine.

I have an impeccable track record in terms of making payments on time. This has been a habit , be it my business and personal , to ensure that payments are made on time to suppliers. It’s a culture for me to make payments on time becoz I believe that I have utilized the time, money and services of the supplier on whom me and my company depends…This attitude of mine is contagious even with respect to my company having a AAA+ rating with my bankers…If you observe my track record, you will find that I sometimes use your card most of the time as a debit card …..putting money in advance and then using the same during my travel abroad. Having said the above, I expect similar reciprocation in attitude from anyone and everyone whom I pay money for services rendered… Contd …

Page 2 I have paid and still pay , year after year a Yearly charge to standard chartered for my visa card. Infact I had asked for a Lifetime card from Stanchart vide Letter dated 9-8-2004 and your credit card statement dated 20th Oct 2004 reflect the same. When I make payments to you, You better ensure that you give me the desired services or else you are not entitled to charge for services which are not provided by you… In my last visit abroad to Korea and Japan, I had one of the most intensely humiliating experiences due to my card being blocked by you.. I was out for dinner in Tokyo and entertaining an important customer of mine and at the end of the Evening , when I volunteered to make the payment, I was in for a shock that my card had been blocked for payment…I was made to wait for 15 minutes and the person at the counter being well mannered offered to ask at her local service center for the cause of the problem…I somehow embarrassingly convinced my customer to spend time to have another round of drinks and waited…that 15 minute humiliating ordeal was not the end of my embarrasment….at the end of the 15 minutes she told me that “the card did not have any money in it…: Her words came as a stinging slap on my face… A slap whose wound I still deeply etched on my mindset….The look on my customers face was beyond my threshold of embarrassment…

The customer finally volunteered to pay …I had to sheepishly agree to his magnanimity…I was feeling like the lowest creature on this planet ( given my persona ) . If I was GOD, How I desperately wished I had the power…of GOD at that moment to ensure permanent erasing the name of Standard chartered from the banking sector. Even the above words can not do justice to the embarrassment I had to face… ( I have proof of the Non acceptance receipt from the restaurant with me ) My unlucky day was not to end….and this predicament continued at the next place we went too…The same thing repeated at the second place we went out….This time I decided to go in for some action….I had to go out in the streets and purchase an International telephone card and call India to the standard chartered number demanding to know the reson for this blockage…The moron at the counter had the stupid audacity

To persist in asking me for my authentication and stating that this was a security check…after 3 repeated calls, he finally told me to to wait for 20 minutes and he would clear my dues ….I had to wait for more than 1 hour for the payment to be accepted and acknowledged….

Contd…..

Page 3 This was not to be the end of the story….This same problem continued the next day also

And I had to suffer the same Traumatic humiliation…once again to take me to the absolute nadir of humilation. ( I have kept with me written proofs of receipts showing non payment at the respective establishments ) Rather than dvelving into the nitty gritties of the same humiliation ,I demand to know, How does Standard chartered find it appropriate to rectify the damage done both monetary and personal humilation suffered by me due to non working of your systems…?? And secondly why should I not initiate legal action against Standard chartered for having subjected me to this trauma..?? You have also not bothered to call at my residence and ask my people at home if I have really gone abroad…this reflects on your shoddy levels of customer care.. I have no interest in continuing with your pathetic services nor do I have any desire to make the payment to you if you do not bother to address my traumatic experience..
