I contacted my home warranty company, First American , to do a repair in my bath tub plumbing system because there was a leakage. They sent a technician from Pioneer Realty (PR) to fix it. The valve needed to be replaced. The technician replaced it by a different brand, and threw my working antique brass faucet away. The faucet was replaced by a standard chrome faucet. I contacted First American to ask why my faucet had been thrown away and why I wasn’t given the opportunity to pay for the difference and get a matching faucet to my bath tub. They asked me to contact PR Plumbing and check with them.

 

PR Plumbing told me that First American only covers standard faucets and they put a valve from a different brand, so the faucet I had wouldn’t fit in it anyway. I contacted First American and they decided to send a technician from another company (Valley Air Conditioning). Steve Forest came by and told me that it’s a standard procedure to allow the customer choose the faucet since it’s obvious that a bathroom has to have matching faucets and most customers are more than willing to pay for the difference. He said that First American had asked him to go there and solve the issue, so he would order an antique brass faucet from the same brand of the valve (Moen) and I would pay for the difference. Steve called me the same day to inform that the difference would cost $90.00 and I would receive it in 2 weeks. I agreed to pay.

 

Now, 3 weeks later, I called him at Valley Air Conditioning and was informed that on that same day First American Company didn’t authorize him to order the faucet and was supposed to call me informing that. My husband or I never received a call. I called First American today for the seventh time in this entire process and was informed that the service was done according to the contract and they wouldn’t do anything else. I haven’t been able to take a bath in my bathroom for 2 months since my tile wall was broken and First American Company doesn’t cover Tile replacement, but they also left a hole in my wall, not replacing even the drywall. Antique-brass Moen faucets are not available in the market to the regular public. Only contractors can order them and to replace the entire faucet set in my bathroom will cost me more than if I had paid for the repair service myself.
