United Parcel Service - Christmas Package Horrors

 

 



My girlfriend sent out several packages via UPS to Connecticut from Oregon, only to have two never show up. We checked out the tracking numbers online and found out that two of the packages were received in Hartford, CT (10 miles from their final destination) and were "out for delivery" one day,

then returned to Hartford damaged the same day. Three days later, the online tracking listed them as arriving in Illinios because they were damaged! FIVE DAYS LATER, my girlfriend called UPS to ask where her packages were (this is well after Christmas by this time).

 

They said that they were damaged and that they were being shipped back to Oregon! The reason they were being shipped back to Oregon? Because it is illegal to ship wine (we sent out some home made wine to her family) to Connecticut. After some investigation on our part, we found out that this is not true. My girlfriend was getting upset, needless to say, and she wanted the packages back so she could re-send her family's Christmas gifts.

 

She called the local UPS store to find out that the packages had arrived 3 days before. NOBODY FROM UPS HAD EVER CONTACTED US ABOUT ANY OF THIS DURRING THE ENTIRE ORDEAL! My girlfriend then took time out of her day to go to the UPS store and pick up the packages. UPS had UNWRAPPED all of the presents that were in the boxes, and THROWN everything into one big box WITHOUT ANY PACKING MATERIALS!!! This severely damaged several of the items, making them worthless. The wine was missing entirely.

 

The lady behind the counter at the UPS store then informed my girlfriend that it is UPS's policy to not

ship alcohol, and that is why it was confiscated. Funny, we didn't see any warnings about this when we shipped it. The lady behind the counter finally gave in and gave my girlfriend her money back (for the shipping cost only, not for packaging or anything). Needless to say, we will NEVER ship anything UPS again. I mean, to UNWRAP SOMEONE'S PRESENTS is unreal. Absolutely uncalled for. I recommend that everyone support your local post office and only ship USPS, because UPS SUCKS! -Sorry for the long rant....
