Lennar Homes sold us a home with a cracked slab. This was no small crack -- it went through the entire width of our home and literally split our slab into two pieces. The sales representative (Susy Davis) had discussed this crack with our neighbors but had never mentioned it to us. In fact, we were not allowed to see the home until after the carpet was laid. It was a real estate inspector who found the cracked slab after we had been in our home almost a year.

 

We spent a year fighting with the Lennar administration in Houston and we were treated very disrespectfully. We want all new home buyers to be aware of what happened to us and to avoid the nightmare that we faced during our fight with Lennar. When you purchase a home be sure to hire a real estate inspector BEFORE YOU SIGN PAPERS. Even if the home builder has hired an inspector -- be sure to hire one who is working for you!!!!

 

Also be aware that when you sign the binding arbitration agreement that you are signing away your right to a jury trial for any problem you may face with your new home. Lennar has finally repaired our slab but we never would have put our retirement savings in a home that had such major problems. Do not make the same mistake we made.
