On May 31, 2004 I left a deposit over $4,000.00 and ordered a dining room set and a bedroom set in the amount of $9,000.00. I was told the furniture would be delivered in July. In July I kept receiving harassing phone calls for the balance of the bill so they can deliver the furniture. Delivery was made in mid July. As I was telling the movers where to place my dining room set, I was then informed that it was incomplete. I was missing my china cabinet, an essential part of the dining room set. Next, was the bedroom set it was missing the headboard and footboard. In fact my whole order was incomplete. I was never told that an item was not in stock prior to paying in full. When my order was being placed, I should have been told that some pieces had to be ordered with an expected delivery date, then at that time I could have decided whether or not I wanted to wait or select something else. It was not the responsibility of the movers to inform me about my order it was my salesperson or any other staff at Futurama. In early September, I was advised that they had the headboard and footboard but my china cabinet will not be in until November. I said that if I can not have my china cabinet in September, I wanted the dining room set picked up. That already ruined my holiday dinner plans. How can you have people over your house when you’re living out of boxes? At this point I was appalled. However, the china cabinet was available earlier and delivered on September 18, 2004 which turned out to be a damaged show floor piece. Since that delivery I have called and they claimed it takes 2 weeks for a service man to come. (Why would a service man be needed when this is suppose to be a BRAND NEW PIECE OF FURNITURE). What kind of company is this? They take your money and forget about the consumer. Never once was I called and said that there was a delay or the delivery date has changed. Why would they care, there were paid in full. How can a company harass you to pay for furniture that they do not even have. I should have been required to pay for only the furniture that was being delivered. I have spoken to several people trying to resolve this issue since September and have not received a call back. In October I hired an attorney and after a letter was sent to them NOW they called me. I have been very patient. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I would NEVER refer that store to anyone. They take your money and give you the run around. Kim M. Click this link to e-mail the above consumer: Email User Consumer
