Kenmore Gas Range

Sears Store Bowie New Town Center, Bowie Maryland is where I purchased a new gas range in January 2003. In September 2004, after warranty ran out, the oven stopped functioning. The repairman replaced the circuit board and igniter. He hinted that there were continuing problems of this nature. The bill was nearly half the cost of the range when new.

In January 2005, the same problem re-appeared. I have spent several days on the telephone with the Sears National Customer Service staff, all to no avail. Their resolution is for me to have their repairman do the same repair again at my cost. It seems that they do have a “lemon policy” that if the same repair is done three times they will replace the product at no cost.

If I make the same repair 2 more times, that will be more than the cost of a new range from a Sears competitor that is also rated higher by Consumer Reports.
