My 2001 Audi had bad front wheel bearings. From about 20,000 miles and on the made alot of noise. The dealer would not replace them and continued to insist there was nothing that they could find wrong with them.
At 63,000 miles the right bearing failed, conveniently 3,000 past warranty. 5,000 miles later the left bearing failed this time welding itselt to the wheel housing and requiring replacement of the entire left front suspension parts. I had to pay for this repair as well. I'm not too much of a complainer. I was out about $ 1,800 that I thought should have been covered by the warranty but figured it was fixed so forget it.
Now the replacement bearings are making the same noise that the first set that came with the car are making. I wear hearing protection ear plugs when I drive because the interior noise is loud again, just like it was when the car was new. This has proved to me that something is going on with this AUDI that should not be my problem.
AUDI customer assistance has now stated, "we back our dealers 100% and if they say this is your problem to deal with that is our position as well, our decision is final". We back our dealers 100%? This is from their "customer service hotline".
Watch out for AUDI tricks, smoke and mirrors folks. If you car runs great your fine. Any problems, however, will be YOUR problems, believe me.
