Detailed complaint: I started my MVP membership on November 29, 2004. Today is January 28, 2005. I went to cancel the MVP membership and was told that my membership has been renewed till February 25, 2005. How is this possible? I was told when joining that my credit card will be only charged every 30 days? But it appears that my credit card was charged 4 days in advance. I called 1-877-325-8687 and spoke to a nice lady called Bertha. She explained to me that it is in my contract that if a month as 31 days, and then the payment is moved 1 day ahead. So in my case, since December had 31 days, the payment was posted on Dec 28 and January has 31 days, the payment was posted on Jan 27th. But I just read some FAQ about the MVP program on http://www.hollywoodvideo.com/support/faq_mvp.aspx . How does the auto-renewal process work and when will my credit card or debit card be charged? The credit card or debit card you provide at the time of purchase will automatically be charged every 30 days in order to renew the Movie Value Pass program on your account. For example, if you have a join date of October 1, your card will be charged a renewal fee on October 31, November 30, December 30, etc, and every 30 days thereafter. This clearly states that, the credit card will be charged every 30 days. There is no mentioning about the CC getting charged 1 day earlier if a month as 31 days. So I was given wrong information. I want my credit card to be refunded the full amount. I understand that the FAQ also states that the membership fees will not be refunded, but charging my credit card 4 days earlier than required may be against the law.
