I received a phone call this morning and when I looked on the caller ID it said private call so I picked up the phone thinking it might be one of my clients. A Mr. Miller identified himself and his company and proceeded to yell at me. He was threatening me the whole time telling me that I needed to pay the citibank card off immediately or I would be taken to court. I told him I understood it was my debt and that I was willing to take care of it. I mentioned that I had not lived at the address they had in about 5 years and no one had called or mailed me anything. He told me it was my responsibility to give a change of address. I stated that I had changed my address at the post office and had my mail forwarded.

As he was yelling at me he told me to "close my trap and listen." He also called me a "dumb blond" since I could not remember his name because he had immediately started yelling. I yelled back that I am not blond. At that point my husband advised me to ask to speak with another person. Mr. Miller asked me if that was my "crap lawyer in the back ground," a word he used quite a few times. I told him that that was my husband whom I love and that I did not need to be talked to this way. He also insisted on calling me by my maiden name and when I asked him to call me by my married name he replied by saying that their office had my maiden name and that is what he would call me. The second time I demanded that he call me by my married name, which he could not even pronounce correctly after I stated it twice.

I tried to talk to him calmly and tell him that I did not deserve to be harassed in such a manner and that he would not get far in life if he treated people in this way.

Finally, I asked Mr. Miller what the address and phone number of his company was and he refused to give them to me. I also asked to speak to a supervisor and he put me on hold, he then came back and told me his supervisor was on the other line and could not speak to me and he was the only one I could deal with. He proceeded to keep yelling and threatening me, so I asked again for his supervisor. I was almost in tears by this time. After having been on the phone about 40 minutes with Mr. Miller, A Mr. Adams came on the line.

I stated to Mr. Adams that I did not appreciate being talked to in such a manner and some of the specific words that Mr. Miller had used. I told Mr. Adams that I could only handle $50 a month. Mr. Adams demanded at least $400 a month or I would be taken to court. I asked him for the address and phone number of the company and he rattled them off and hung-up. I had to call back and speak to a receptionist to make sure I had the address correct.

I Understand that I owe the money and I am willing to take care of the situation. However, I do NOT think that it is right to make people feel violated like I do. Something needs to be done about this company. Their manner of speaking to people is outrageous and CANNOT be tolerated. I am glad to find out that I am not the only one who has been treated this way. I hope that citibank will not stand for this.

If anyone who reads this could e-mail me anything that would be helpful in my dealings with Academy Services, I would appreciate it greatly. If you have been taken to court by this company, it would be nice to know the outcome.

wishing the best of luck to anyone who gets a call from Academy Services,

Laura M.

I have been dealing with employees of this company for just a little while but it is very distressing because they keep calling not only me but my elderly mother about something my ex-husband owes or has done, but I'm not sure which it is. I have been divorced from this man for over 20 years, we had no children, and he owes me thousands of dollars. No need to bore everyone with the details but the point is that he defrauded me during our brief marriage. I had to repay thousands of dollars of his debt and was left with only a worthless contractual promise from him to repay me. It was worthless because he disappeared after our divorce became final and I have not had any contact with him. Heck, if I knew where he was I would go after him myself to get the money he owes me.

The first time they called I was just so surprised that someone was calling me asking about my ex-husband not only because we divorced over 20 years ago but because I had also relocated to a new state. The person refused to answer any of my questions including the one that I was most perplexed about which was how they got my name and phone number. But since I never wanted to hear from them again I gave them the info on our divorce and explained how this horrible man had defrauded me (which is why I divorced him) and that he still owed me alot of money. I assured this person I had no contact with this con man and since he owed me so much money he would not be calling me. This person was gruff and uncooperative (about giving me any answers as to why they were calling me) but did finally apologize for bothering me and told me that she would update the records. I thought the matter was finished, but no such luck. A week or so went by and a man from this company called my mother (who is 79 years old) asking for my ex-husband. Fortunately I had told her about the call I had received so she wasn't as surprised as I had been. She asked this person the same sort of questions I had asked and did not get too many answers but she still reiterated the truth about my divorce, etc. He said he would update the files. My mother then jokingly asked the person to let her know if they did find him [my ex] because he owed me thousands of dollars and the man hung up on her. As distressing as it was to get these calls and unearth a very stressful and unhappy time in my life I hoped that this would finally put the matter to rest, but it did not.

A couple of weeks go by and I get another call from this company about the ex-husband. I demanded answers to my questions about what was going on and how they got my name and phone number. This person told me that all she knew was that I was listed in her file as a member of his family. I then gave her the complete story just as I had told the others and demanded that she remove me and my mother from her list and to never call us again. She told me that she would update the records and hung up. Then about a week later there was a voice mail message on my answering machine demanding that [name of my ex-husband] call the company immediately, etc. I ignored the call. A couple of days later I received another call from this company. Now I am getting really upset. I told the person about the previous calls, the promises made by other employees of this company to update the records so that no more calls would be made to me and my mother, and again demanded to know how they got my name and number and why they kept calling me. This person tells me that he [the ex] had some sort of banking issue and that the person got my name and phone number because he [the ex] had listed me as a reference. Well, you can imagine given what he had done to me during our brief marriage in the 1980s that this info really freaked me out. I again reiterated the facts and this time DEMANDED that they cease calling immediately. Again, I was promised that the records would be updated and the calls would stop. Again, not true. Today my mother was called. Bless her heart she was really forceful about them explaining what was going on. This person said that they had our names because they do a background search to find all people that had connections to him and that he [the ex] was in big trouble and that it was a criminal matter. My mother told her about the other calls, retold her the facts and again told her to stop calling us because given the history with this con man their calls (and misinformation) was causing great distress to me and that we had NO information about him or his whereabouts. This person again said that the records would be updated. My Mom then asked this person why the records had not already been updated and why were they continuing to harass us. The person hung up on her.

I have my doubts that this harassment will end and that is why I came online to try to find out something about what I could do if they called either one of us again and I found this site and decided to tell my story. The employees of this company have lied to me about how they got our names and phone numbers. Their promises of updating the records so the calls would stop were also lies. Although we finally got some information about what was going on the information that was provided was very vague and given the other lies they have already told I guess I will never know for sure whether they are being truthful.

Why do they keep harassing me and my mother? How can I make sure that this harassment will end?

I have as well been receiving phone calls from this company. I understand that it is my debt and I am willing to pay it off but there is no way I can just pay it at one time. If that was the case I would have never let it get behind. These people are rude and never let you talk the man who contact me at my work this morning when I told him there was no way I could pay it all up front he said why don't you have a job. What they don't understand is all he is doing is making me mad and not want to make payment. At the company where I work we are not allowed to have personal phone calls I have ask them to stop calling me at work but they want stop is there anything I can do to stop the calls at work? If anyone knows please let me know.

Wow...I hate to be odd one out, but I have not had any issues with them. Even after ignoring their many messages on my phone. Finally, as things got a little better for me, I spoke with them and made payment arrangements. The only issue is that at the end of the first part of the arrangments, they were suppose to call me back and set up another set. Well I never got a call, just an aditional $150 taken out of my checking account. I called my bank and they reversed the charge. Then Academy called me and I explained why they got the payment returned to them as NSF. They credited me the NSF fee they charge and we have now set up another set of payments. Throughout the whole thing, I got notices from Diners Club (Original Creditor) when each payment was made and current balance. The woman on the phone gave me the address of :

10965 Decatur Rd

Phildelphia, Pennsylvania 19154

for anyone that wants it.

I had a call from these people myself, several in fact. They wanted the phone number of my daughter. I told them my daughter did not live with us anymore, and that I would give her their number, so she could contact them. The person on the phone got irate and asked if I was refusing to give them the number. I said that under the Privacy Act of 1974, I did not have the authorization to give that information out, and that they need to stop calling this number. The person on the phone said that this was the number my daughter gave, so they would continue to call until I provided them with another number. The information that they had was over 15 years old. After I hung up, I contacted our State Attorney General's office. I explained what had happened to the AG staff member. She got right on the phone with the office manager of this company, and right there and then, got them to stop calling me.

I am a secretary at a church in Missouri. These people have called the church about 7 times for a person that attends church here. I don't know how they got our church's name or phone number, but I have told them several times that they would not be able to reach this person at this number. They asked me for their home number. When I refused to give it to them and asked them if there was something I could help them with, the lady got really hateful and said she would just call them at home. I don't know how she was going to do that since I didn't give her their phone number. I got the latest call this morning. The lady said she would take our number off as a contact number for them. Since I have asked them 7 times now to do that, I highly doubt this time will produce any different results.

I have power of attorney to represent my younger brother in a collection matter regarding a Citi Bank credit card. This company has persisted in phoning my 88 yr old mother. In an attempt to collect this debt. I Phoned the company and informed them that I had power of attorney, and that they would have to deal exclusively with me, and that they should cease and desist all calls or correspondence to any party other than myself. They then stated that they needed a copy of the power of attorney. I stated I would be happy to send it to them. I asked for a fax number or if they prefered a mailing address. At which time "Barbra" their rep. Hung up the phone. I called back and said that we had been disconnected, and could I please have their fax number and mailing address. She said fat chance and hung up again.

Acadamy Service is what is known as the last resort type collection agency. They cannot take you to court, because in legal terms they do not have Standing. Their only means of collection are intimidation and herrasment. DO NOT PAY THEM. Your credit report has already been damaged as much as it can at this point due to the fact that it has been turned in to collections. Acadamy is usually the third agency that Citi Bank sells your account to.

This company has somehow got my cell phone number in its automatic dialing system. When I answered my phone, it was only a recorded message. It happened twice already, and each time I asked them to take my number out because I have no business with them. I wouldn't be surprised that their computer calls me again tomorrow.

I too have recieved phone calls from this company right along with two other companies that claim to be colecting for the same company Citi-card. We have repeatly asked for them to send something the varifies we owe this money, yet they never send anything other than that I owe the certian amount but never when or where this amount came from and With all the scams out there you have to be careful. They always want to take it directly out of your bank account today or they will have to further thier collections..

They are a junk collector... and they do not represent the company itself. They buy them out for pennies on the dollar and what ever they collect by using scare tactics and anything they collect is usually a profit, if they don't they just sell them to someone else who adds money to the amount calling it interest accumulation. ( not even sure if it's legal to do that)

They are rude as most are anymore, using threats to collect thier money. Just With caller ID, it easy to know who they are, so when they call, pick the phone up, and blow a whisle... or have a long 3 minute answering machine message that can be played when they call. Just ramble on it about nothing, and just turn it on when they call.

I recieved a call from these people today. As soon as I answered the phone he started calling me by my sisters name. I tried to tell him over and over that I am not her, he then got rude and demanded that I give him her phone number. When I stated that I don't give anyones phone number to anyone I don't know. I asked for him name and number and was told that he was from Academy Services and that I needed to give im her number because he claimed that she gave him mine and in his eyes it would only be right for me to give him her's. After telling him several times that since I don't know him I was not giving him her phone number, the man just lost it. Wanting to know if I was really who I said I am and if I am then I am a very stupid and selfish person who must be hiding something. At that point I got angry and hung up the phone. They really need to teach these people some manners!

I too received phone calls from this company about paying a debt. I had been paying on my citibank card steadily then stopped.... I understand too it is my debt to pay BUT I have had this problem....

Several places have called me about the same card and each asking for money. With all the scam out there I simply requested the company send me something in writing stating that they were authorized to collect payment. Nothing was sent. I paid nothing becasue I don' just give my bank account info over the phone.

I have not heard since. From what i understand it will not be academy services that takes you to court. It will be the credit card company.

Oh my God! I had a brief talk with these idiots. I didn't give them time to be rude to me, and hearing these nightmare stories, I am certainly glad I cut them off! This kind of behavior from these collection agencies is inexcusable...if they keep it up, they are going to ruin the legitaimate collection services (if there are any left!)

Last night A mr. Spencer Called my mother. He threatened to 'Rape and Mutilate her' if she didt put my dad on the phone.

Hello, I have been receiving messages from a Mindy Kirk @x 2614, from Academy Services about my Citibank card. She has also threatened me and has been leaving rude messages on my cell phone, which I have been saving for evidence. I have been trying to get loans to pay off this debit and am still trying and as I told her her rude phone calls is not scaring me and will not rush me in trying to pay them off. If anything it's Pissing me off.
