1/27/2005 Acer America Fax: 408-922-2933 RE: LAPTOP REPAIR CASE #: 1-2467DE Dear Sir or Madam: I sent a letter to your corporate fax about the following issue with no response. I tried to send this letter again by fax yesterday, but your fax was down. On Monday, January 24, 2005, I filed charges in small claims court for the full amount of the laptop. As soon as the court sets a date, you will be receiving a letter from the Kalamazoo County Small Claims Court. I purchased an Acer laptop computer in July from CDW. Right from the start, I was having problems with the DVD drive on the computer. I have been working on the issue since about September with Acer Technical Support. I mailed my computer back to Acer to have it repaired. Acer mailed it back to me and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. When I called Acer, the representative said that they played a few DVDs in it, and it worked fine. I asked about the burning problem with it. He replied that they didn't try to fix that problem. He also said it was clearly in my case notes that I mentioned the problem with it. I have had to do all my burning on my desktop computer instead. The representative said I could mail it back to them again and be without it for yet another week. I said that wasn't doable. After all, they were supposed to fix it the first time. I asked why the technicians didn't call me about the computer when they had it and found nothing wrong. He said that the technicians didn't believe in phones. That is really poor service! I asked if they could just send me out a replacement computer, so I wouldn't be without a computer. He said they wouldn't replace the whole unit for such an issue. I replied that I could just have it repaired locally and send Acer the bill, but they wouldn't do that either. The representative rudely said the conversation was over. Since the drive hasn't worked right since I first bought the computer, and Acer wont fix it, I want a full refund od $1,988.90. Thank you, William M
