While on our honeymoon in Hawaii we utilized our credit card for the first time, and on December 06, 2004 when we returned our rental car, we attempted to put that charge on another credit card as we knew we were close to our limit. The representative at the rental car agency explained the charge had gone through and this was not necessary. When we received our statement with a closing date of December 12, 2004, it showed the last transaction on December 06, 2004 with the rental car agency and then immediately following a $35 over the limit fee charge on our statement. I mailed more than my minimum amount due on January 06, 2005 for my payment due on January 12th, 2005. When I received my next statement with a closing date of January 18, 2005, it showed my payment posted and then on December 29, 2004 another charge of $35 for over the limit fee. I called the customer service department and requested this second charge be removed as this had been paid on January 06, 2005 before my payment due date, and there were no charges after December 06, 2004. She refused to remove the charge and said they could charge you twice if it wasn't paid before the end of the month. In other words the first charge being on the date of the original over the limit and the second at the end of the month. I tried to inquire as to how I was to pay it before the end of December as I hadn't even received my statement yet and she said it was in the policy. Due to the above, I am cancelling my account and taking my business elsewhere. Buyer beware of the above. V. Smith
