ING Direct ING Direct
Thanks to ING I can not get my money out from my account to use for house closing. My problem is, I am going to the closing for the house I am buying next week and I need my funds which are linked to my checking account. I recently learned that my bank changed my checking numbers. I contacted ING about this and faxed the banks letter to show that this is the same account.
Although this is still the same account, ING treats this as a new account and puts my money on hold for 5 days. It also takes 3 days (they say 2 to 3 days but they wait the maximum duration) after that to get the funds out. So, I do not have access to my funds I need for closing. They do not even do a federal funds wire. I need to get a personal loan just to cover my closing costs. When I talked to the customer service, they were rude and told me that this is their business model.
So, keeping the customers money is their business model. I was told that this is for security. Not mine I guess. In conclusion, I have money but I can not access it. As soon as I get my money out, I am never returning to ING. Hope this information helps somebody. Be Very careful with ING! THEY decided to close my account b/c I opened an account for my 10 yr-old niece (who isn't a registered user on my checking account). They didn't like that and closed it and said "we could no longer have a financial relationship." I was Very surprised by this but better to know up front that they are a little strange. I have been Waiting and Waiting to receive my funds. After a month, I called. They said they have 60 days to close your account!! Be careful, if you think you will Need YOUR MONEY, you could be in for a surprise!
I am discouraging Everyone I know from doing business with them. I don't think this will be a very successful with Americans as we are accustomed to Customer Services, at least to some degree.
