BlueHippo Funding, Finance Company

BlueHippo Funding, LLC Baltimore, Maryland BlueHippo Funding, LLC grossly misrepresented the terms of their contract when they set up my account with them over the phone. The representative led me to believe that my television would be sent to me promptly upon receiving my 7th payment. She also provided me with no other contact for any sort of customer support. When I called back later to the same number I used to set up the account and began requesting a copy of my contract and its terms, I was told that the number provided in their advertisements was not for customer use, but only for setting up new customer accounts. Then the representative simply hung up on me before I could request the number to customer service. This happened twice more back to back, totaling almost an hour and 45 minutes of being on the phone when you include the obscene hold times. What was more insulting was the fact that when I finally searched for a customer service number on the internet and found one, the first customer service representative I got was the same lady who signed me up for my account in the first place. I then began to request copies of my contract so that I could file them away and have a copy of the terms of my agreement. I was told that it would be sent to me via US Postal Service and would be mailed that afternoon. Almost two weeks went by with no mail from BlueHippo. I called them again and requested the information a second time. I was promised a fax within 72 hours. Why it would take 72 hours to fax a copy of an agreement that should have already been prepared is beyond me. The 72 hours went by with no fax from BlueHippo. At this point, I had already read a mountain of Better Business Bureau reports on BlueHippo and their unfair practices and my faith in the company was completely undermined. I called back a third time to simply request my money back and to stop all payments from being deducted from my account. I was met with a customer service supervisor who was extremely rude. She would not put me through to someone who could help me. She also told me that I would not be getting my money back and there was nothing I could do about it. She refused to give me the number to BlueHippo's administrative office (which I found later at the Better Business Bureau website). I finally contacted the administrative offices of BlueHippo and talked with their audit department. I requested a refund of my money due to their inability to respect my rights as a consumer to retain a copy of my agreement with their company. I was told that I waived my right to request a refund when I made the agreement on the phone with their representative. The auditor informed me that I had no recourse but to continue my account with them and that a refund was not an option at all. She sent me a copy of the agreement, which in no way resembled the verbal agreement to which I consented. The written agreement contains clauses that waive the applicant's rights to any kind of legal action should BlueHippo fail to follow through on their agreement. It also contains clauses that allow BlueHippo to apply a default status to your account for any reason they feel like. It bars the applicant from taking part in any class action suit and it also waives many consumer rights that are the only way to enforce the company to uphold their part of the agreement. I have refused to sign the agreement and have brought a civil suit against BlueHippo on the grounds of misrepresentation, fraudulent business practices, and breach of contract. I would be pleased to assist anyone else who has had a similar experience with this company by providing contact with the appropriate resources to help you.
