BEWARE Movers Of America Van Lines moversofamericavanlines.com My move from one city in Wisconsin to another was booked by Ms. Melanie Satiagol (Sales Manager). I found the company by filling out an internet form requesting quotes from multiple companies and Movers of America Van Line's quote was the lowest dollar amount per cubic footage. My pre-move dealings with the company were fine, Melanie put my mind at ease when I expressed concern of "price jacking" or raising the price of the quote after the mover's arrive (I was concerned due to a segment on NBC's Dateline about the same thing). She assured me that as long as I didn't have more items than those on my list I provided at the time of the quote I would not be charged anything additional. Not only did I NOT have more items than I listed, I had less as I moved many items in separate vehicles, however, the price not only raised but it nearly doubled! The movers claimed that my quote was for stacking my items in the truck but they would probably be damaged in the move if they did that so they had to use more space to keep my items secure. The drivers also required cash for their long hauls in addition to the charge for the long haul on the statement. They also wanted a cash tip to be "extra careful". Movers of America Van Line's price misrepresentation was just one problem with the company. Ms. Satiagol also misrepresented accepted payment methods as the driver required me to wire payment for the move to an individual in Sunrise, FL named ERAN MASHIAH. It turns out my case is almost the same situation described on the FBI's website entitled: 16 MOVING COMPANIES AND 74 OPERATORS, OWNERS AND EMPLOYEES INDICTED ON CHARGES OF FRAUD AND EXTORTION http://www.fbi.gov/fieldnews/march/mm030403.htm In fact, one of the movers had a pen from one of the indicted companies! Here is a description from the report that matches my situation" "In general, the defendants engaged in the following scheme. A defendant moving company would represent itself to the public as a reputable and long-established moving company. Owners, operators or employees of the defendant companies provided low moving estimates to customers to induce them to hire the company to move their goods.

Once the customer retained the company, the company's employees would arrive at the customer's home, pack the customer's belongings in a moving truck, and then typically rush the customers through the paperwork, causing them to sign blank or incomplete bills of lading and other documents, and failing to inform them of the total price of the move. Once the customers' goods had been loaded, the defendants would fraudulently inflate the total price of the move, often by thousands of dollars, claiming that the customers' goods occupied more cubic feet than had been originally estimated and/or by overcharging the customers for packing materials. When contacted by customers requesting the delivery of their goods, the defendants demanded full payment of the inflated price before delivery of the goods. In many cases, the defendants would ignore customers' repeated complaints about the inflated price and/or lied to the customers about the delivery of their goods, often using false names when dealing with customers over the telephone and in writing." After complaining to the company about my experience my letter was forwarded to Josh at ClaimManagement.org and after a couple of emails back and forth Josh and Melanie are now ignoring my situation. There are even more details to this story I have not touched on, however the point is beware Movers of America Van Lines (and affiliated companies)! Ryan E

I had a move from SC to Texas and they did the same to me. Jacked up the price from 400 to 1700 saying I had more stuff and that it was stacked from floor to ceiling when I saw that it was not. I would say NEVER do business with Van Lines of America they are rip off artists!
