Just experienced going through a "passing the buck" conversation, while talking with Chase Credit Card Customer Service. AND, getting more of an attitude issue than Service.
On 5 Jan 2005, I received 4 envelopes from Chase. Balance Transfer checks for 3 accounts that I have with Chase.
Account #1 had 2 offers. 1 that expired on 5 JAN (same day I received offer) and 1 that the offer expires 28 Feb 05. Account #2 had 1 offer. That offer expires on 28 Feb 05. Account #3 had 1 offer.. But, It expired on 5 JAN 2005 (same day I received the offer).
It upset me because the 3rd account I would have used the offer. Plus, receiving mail and information that expired on the day that it was received.
I finally called Chase on 13 Jan 2005. Talked to a Customer Service agent that gave her name as: "Atchudta". She was nice, but not helpful at all. About the only thing that she was able to tell me was that the subject envelopes that had the 5 JAN offer were mailed out in Oct 2004. She kept telling me it was at the fault of the Post Office (not Chase) that I received my mail late, which made it impossible for me to take advantage of the offer. She could not help me because there was a 3rd party at fault.
That Chase envelopes are blank and it is the post office that puts the postage information on the envelope. I informed her that it was Chase that put (or had the info put) on the envelope. That the envelopes were pre-printed for CHASE to use. And, that the information on the envelopes read as follows: 2 envelopes stated "PRSAT STD - U.S. POSTAGE - PAID" which were the envelopes that contained the information that expired on 5 Jan 2005. The other 2 envelopes read as: "PRESORTED - FIRST CLASS MAIL - U.S. POSTAGE PAID". And, they were the ones that contained the offers that expire Feb 28.
By the way, I live in Hawaii.
I then called the Post office. Was informed that the envelopes with the "PRSAT STD - U.S.Postage - Paid" traveled by Truck or Train in the Continental U.S. and by Boat across water. Post Office stated it could take approx 3 to 6 weeks on the mainland (Truck and/or Train) and 4 to 6 weeks (boat) over the water. Pacific Ocean. This information was related to me by the Post Office in Hawaii. That this type mail NEVER traveled by air.
So, I called Chase back and asked for a Supervisor. After a little static with the agent that answered the phone, I got a person that said he was a spvsr, and stated his name was Allen. He did tell me that he would advise someone about the mail situation. But he then told me that he also could do nothing else for me. That the offer in mention was sent out on 28 Oct 2004, and that I should not have waited so long to try for the offer. This is AFTER I had already informed him that the offer was received on the same day the offer expired. (5 Jan 2005). He kept commenting to me that I should have done something about it before the 5th of Jan if I wanted to accept the offer. He was very GENERIC with his replies.
And also kept repeating there was nothing else he could do. I should have contacted Chase sooner, before the offer expired.
As big as Chase is, I'm sure that someone could have helped me. Customer Service Reps. should not try to 2nd guess a problem but take care of it. With true understanding, not flimsy excuses to the problem. Not to try throw the blame elsewhere.
As for the Spvsr "Allen", he did not represent himself as a Spvsr. In fact, with his comments, it made me feel like he was impersonating a Spvsr. That the agent I got on my 2nd phone call just transferred me to someone that was acting like he was a Spvsr. Because his attitude and personality and conversation did not come across as a Supervisor should.
Chase Credit Card Company should be more aware that locations such as Hawaii, Alaska, & Puerto Rico, should not have the slowest available Postal Service to be used for their mailing offers. That is down right ludicrous.

They have the worst customer service and on more then one occasion I was flat out lied to. When I called about it the "Superviser" said..There was nothing he could do about it. I told him that all those employees need to be fired/retrained and told not to lie to ppl about their accounts and that they should honor what I was told. But of course he couldnt do anything about it. DONT EVER get a chase card. They are the WORST!
