Dallas, Texas 75230 detailed complaint: In 1998, our family purchased a Huntington/Sanders Custom Home. Huntington Homes is affiliated with Sanders Custom Homes, Sanders Custom Builders, Sanders and Associates, Highland Homes and Horizon Homes. What we thought was our dream home turned into a nightmare for our family. Our home has had seven floods/leaks and one gas leak in 5 years. Major Problems:

-toilet in bathroom off the kitchen flooded home

-water leak/flood from master bedroom ceiling

-multiple leaks/water events under seven of eight sinks

-flood in master bedroom and hallway

-gas leak in kitchen- gas line not capped at electric range

-foundation leak in hot water line, major flood in house

-toilet off kitchen not sealed correctly

-major flood in kitchen and house- sink not installed properly

-toilet flood in second floor "Jack and Jill" bathroom-flooded upstairs-to first floor kitchen Our home has had water from these flooding events and plumbing problems in our kitchen, dining room, family room, formal living room, formal dining room, powder room, bathroom off kitchen, pantry, broom closet, utility room, master bedroom, hallway, master bathroom, upstairs bathroom, and "Jack and Jill" bathroom. When we saw visible mold were told by Huntington/Sanders Custom Homes it was just common mildew not that toxic mold. At the flood in July 2003, we personally took samples of the mold to a lab for testing. We found out that indeed our home has toxic mold including: Apergillus, Stachybotrys, Chaetomium, Ascospores and others. We had to move out of our contaminated home. To our knowledge, Huntington/Sanders Custom Homes never took samples of the mold during any of the flooding events. We simply asked Huntington/Sanders Custom Homes to buy our house back at appraised "fair market" value and they refused. We created a website as a consumer resource to inform and assist others. Highland Homes Sucks!!! I would stay away from Highland Homes if I were you. That company does not stick to their agreement. Apart from the fact that our loan was not approved, the house they build was sub-standard. The rocks on the fireplace were already cracking before the closing. Their sales person, Mark Armistead is a smooth talker with no integrity. He will tell you anything to speed along the process, all he cares about is the sale. To him your house is inventory not a home!!!!
